One final moment from a historic day in Queens. 💜💛 The Bruhs of Gamma Epsilon Chapter traveled from the Third District to join us for the historic street renaming honoring our beloved Founder, Bishop Edgar Amos Love. The 2026 International Marchdown Champions not only brought their championship energy to the celebration, but also took a moment to reflect on what it meant to be present for history in the making. For the younger Brothers especially, the day was an opportunity to connect the history they are learning with the legacy unfolding right before them. Thank you to the GE Bruhs for making the journey to Queens and helping us celebrate a moment that will forever be part of Omega history. Bishop Edgar A. Love Way. The Brothers of Gamma Epsilon Chapter traveled to Queens, New York, to join the Second District, the Love family, and Brothers from across Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for the historic street renaming program honoring our beloved Founder, Bishop Edgar Amos Love. 💜💛 Representing the Third District, Gamma Epsilon Chapter, the 2026 International Marchdown Champions, participated in this historic celebration and delivered a special Marchdown presentation at the Robert Ross Johnson Family Life Center in St. Albans, Queens. Their presence was another example of how this occasion extended beyond district boundaries, bringing Brothers together to honor the life and enduring legacy of one of our Founders. Thank you to the GE for making the trip to Queens and helping make this historic celebration even more memorable. The house that Love built was never confined to the walls of the home of one of the late Founder’s of @officialoppf, Bishop Edgar Amos Love. His life’s work reached far beyond those walls, touching countless lives and creating a legacy that continues to live on through Omega. Southeast Queens, too, has been enriched by that legacy. That is why it was an honor to co-sponsor legislation with my colleagues in the @nyccouncil to co-name a street in his honor—ensuring that Bishop Love’s name and contributions remain a lasting part of the community he helped inspire.

It was an honor to officially co-name Bishop Edgar A. Love Way and recognize a remarkable figure in Black history with deep roots in District 27. Bishop Love, one of the founders of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., once made his home in Addisleigh Park and helped charter Queens’ Nu Omicron Chapter, affectionately known as “The House That Love Built.” More than a century after Omega’s founding, its impact can be seen in generations of Black men who have carried its commitment to scholarship, service and uplift into their professions, families and communities. Now, Bishop Love’s name has a permanent place in Addisleigh Park. Thank you to the Love family, Nu Omicron Chapter, Omega Psi Phi’s national leadership, Second District leadership, and the many Omega men, Divine Nine members, neighbors, family and friends who joined us despite the rain to celebrate this historic occasion. Bishop Love is Black history, and I’m grateful his legacy is now forever etched #InsideThe27.

Four of Bishop Love’s grandchildren, including Virginia Love and John Love, Jr., gathered with 40th Second District Representative Leon Smith II and Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. at the home where Bishop Love and his family once lived.
