🎶 @panchiko_deathmetal EU/UK tour🎶
📍@nusugigs The Venue📍
🗓️ 17th October 2026 🗓️

Formed between 1997 and 1998 with minor recognition and a few EPs, 2001 saw the band members go into different directions away from recording and performing then in 2016 through a charity shop find in @oxfamgb Nottingham, their hometown, and an internet search of about four years momento gained that in 2020 the rebirth of Panchiko came with new recordings and reissues THEN a live show in December 2021. And a debut album finally came in 2023 with Failed At Math(s).

A second album came in 2025 and now nearly every show they play is SOLD OUT including this night at NUSU. There was a huge mix in ages and the barrier was full of fans in make up matching the visualisers on the screen behind the band. It's no surprise also that throughout a lot of the show there was a sea of mobile phones up in the air. For some reason this night made it a heart warming experience. I don't mind the odd mobile screen in my view of the stage for a few minutes. Anything more is a hindrance to the show but with this Panchiko crowd it hit different. I couldn't stop smiling witnessing what was happening in front of me. It was a wholesome experience.

So yeah go to your charity shop. Pick up that record that intrigues you. Read the inlays and find out about who made the record. If it still gets you then celebrate that find cos you might just be responsible for the next Panchiko. This is a story that I love witnessing 🫶🏼

Huge thank you to Debbie and Team NUSU for having me cover this night💥

🎶 @gurriersband Nobody's Coming To Save You tour🎶
📍@nusugigs The Venue📍
🗓️ 15th October 2026 🗓️

In contrast to the new album and name of the tour Gurriers did save me as after witnessing this night of the tour I felt the bug that I caught was cleared through the intensity of what I had witnessed.

From the second the Irish quintet stepped on stage it was high velocity locked in. Starting with the title track, snarling shouts from both sides of the barrier and fist pumps came as fast as the strobes. It was a pure adrenaline rush and the best medicine as although I walked into the venue not feeling 100% I felt like I was photography this band at 110%. Though still feeling a bit ill as much as I wanted to I was not doing the wall of death but the crowd did not let me down as the crowd surfing came just as many times as frontman Dan Hoff climbed the barrier and as fellow band member bassist Charlie McCarthy got into and onto the crowd at one point. But unless you were in the thick of it, it was a blink and you would miss it moment. At one point though I thought a crowd surfer was going to butt heads with Hoff at the barrier. It was that fast paced and energetic. There was definitely no chance of Nausea...well maybe in the set list 🫠

This basement venue really felt like the perfect venue for Gurriers intensity. The old material really rallied the crowd and the latest material kept them hepped up. There really was no time to stop and when it did it genuinely felt like you could keep on going as the Party Lines really were drawn and this night sure proved that this night or even Today Is Not Enough and if you did Come And See then you know there's definitely more in the future of Gurriers.

Biggest thanks to Debbie and the team at NUSU for having me cover this night 💥

𝗚𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗢𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗟𝗘 🔥

A packed basement, low ceilings and a crowd ready for chaos. Irish post-punk outfit @gurriersband brought their Nobody’s Coming To Save You tour to @nusugigs , delivering a relentless headline set.

Rotterdam’s Tramhaus opened proceedings with 40 minutes of shoegaze and noise-rock, getting the first mosh pits moving before Gurriers took things up another level. From the opening track to a wall of death conducted by frontman Dan Hoff, neither band nor crowd let up.

Reviewing the night for @soundbitenortheast, @maxswinney captures the intensity of the performance, the standout tracks and why Gurriers could be on the verge of something much bigger.

🎶 @matildathemann Kismet tour🎶
📍@nusugigs The Venue📍
🗓️ 10th October 2026 🗓️

It sure felt like a meet-cute evening with Matilda Mann bringing her sophomore album Kismet on tour to Newcastle.

For quite an open spaced venue Matilda and herband sure did make it feel intimate. And if there was anything louder than a whisper a stare in your direction sure made you feel uncomfortable. Luckily I was not one that got that and luckily I got to witness this night as just seeing the faces full of smiles made me feel warm and cosy cos I sure am that fan at times too.

The Kismet stage set had white drapes adorning the back of the stage with a mix of warm colours throughout the night lighting them up. Even when the cool blue was lit the warm tones of the music and personality made it anything but cold.

Matilda stage presence is adorable. She makes her audience feel and be part of her show even in the non scripted moments of tuning a guitar and sipping water you felt enamoured in her presence.

This is my second time seeing Matilda live. First time was a smaller venue. This time it was a bigger venue but with a lush intimate vibe. What I'm saying is if you want a connection with your music played live and have those comforting feelings then Matilda Mann is the true meaning of her second album namesake, Kismet 🫶🏼

Huge thanks to Debbie and the team at NUSU for having me cover this night 💥
