Want a ridiculously old-school way to make your grocery budget go further? Ferment something. 🥕🥬🫙
Fermentation has been helping humans preserve food for thousands of years, and it still makes a whole lot of sense today.
That extra cabbage? Ferment it.
Cucumbers coming out of your ears? Ferment them.
Carrots, peppers, onions, garlic? You know where this is going. 😆
Fermenting can help extend the life of seasonal produce, rescue vegetables before they become food waste, and turn inexpensive ingredients into flavorful foods you might otherwise buy already prepared.
Less waste. More flavor. More mileage from your grocery dollars. 💰
And somewhere along the way, a few humble vegetables + salt + time become something entirely new.
Basically, fermentation is what happens when frugality gets delicious. 🦠✨
Follow @nw_ferments and learn how to put those microbes to work! Pssst: they also have a YouTube channel!🪴🌱 FOLLOW #oregoncityguide for more Oregon City photos and info about this town with entrepreneurship pulsing through its veins. 📍Experience history, culture, and adventure in Oregon City.

Sending gratitude + happiness your way. 🤗

🌈🧘‍♀️ ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCEMENT UPDATE! 🧘‍♀️🌈

A LITTLE CHANGE TO OUR PRIDE YOGA! 🌿✨

Due to some unforeseen personal reasons, unfortunately Alexa will not be able to join us this year at the festival for yoga.

But HAVE NO FEAR! 🌈💖

I knew exactly who I needed to call — and this incredible woman stepped up and said ABSOLUTELY YES! 🙌✨

So we are SO excited to introduce our yoga instructor for this Saturday…

🌿🧘‍♀️ MY DEAR FRIEND, @marci.jory aka @joryhome_ ! 🧘‍♀️🌿

Marci Jory is an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher with 13 years of teaching experience, including 8 years running her own yoga and wellness studio in Oregon City.

She has led yoga teacher training programs, international retreats, and women’s gatherings, and practices vinyasa, hatha, and yin yoga alongside meditation and breathwork.

Marci’s teaching is rooted in radical self acceptance and patience for wherever you are on your path. She holds space in a way that feels supportive, welcoming, and accessible to everyone in the room. ❤️

This Saturday at Oregon City Pride, Marci will guide us through a practice woven from breathwork, meditation, and slow, accessible hatha yoga postures.

✨ NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
✨ JUST COME AS YOU ARE.

🌿 WHAT TO BRING: 🌿

Please bring your own yoga mat or a blanket if you have one!

Marci is also bringing a VERY LIMITED number of extra yoga mats that she has available for those who need one — so please bring your own if you can!

Or…

🌱 BE ONE WITH NATURE! 🌱

Lay your yoga mat or blanket on the grass, or feel the earth underneath you, kick off your shoes, and let your feet connect with Mother Nature and the lawn. 🌿💚

Come breathe.
Come stretch.
Come meditate.
Come connect.
Come celebrate.

Come exactly as you are. 🌈❤️

🧀 Fresh Cheese Cultures Just Arrived! 🧀

There’s a quiet little revival happening across the country right now: people are rediscovering the art of making cheese at home.

Whether it’s a simple chèvre, a creamy fromage blanc, cultured butter, mozzarella, feta, or a farmhouse cheddar, more folks are learning that some of the best food traditions don’t come from a factory—they come from a kitchen, a milk pail, and a little patience.

We just received a fresh shipment of cheesemaking cultures, including:

🧀 Aromatic B – Perfect for fresh cheeses and soft-ripened styles with a little extra flavor development.

🧀 MA11 Mesophilic Culture – A versatile culture for fresh cheeses, cream cheese, chèvre-style cheeses, and many traditional farmhouse cheeses.

🧀 TA61 Thermophilic Culture – Used for higher-temperature cheeses like mozzarella, parmesan-style cheeses, Swiss-style cheeses, and other aged varieties.

🧀 Fromage Blanc Culture – Makes a rich, mild, spreadable fresh cheese that’s one of the easiest and most rewarding cheeses to make at home.

🧀 Flora Danica – Wonderful for cultured butter, crème fraîche, sour cream, soft cheeses, and other European-style cultured dairy products.

If you’re one of our herdshare members, your raw milk can be a fantastic starting point for home cheesemaking projects.

Not a herdshare member? No problem. These cultures also work beautifully with Catherine Creek’s A2/A2 milk, available right here at the market.

There’s something magical about turning milk into cheese. It’s one of humanity’s oldest food traditions, and it’s surprisingly approachable for beginners. If you’ve ever thought about trying it, this might be the perfect time.

Stop by the market when Angie is in, ask questions, and let’s keep these old skills alive together. ❤️
