Y’all ready for this! Tacoma crew is responsible for watering 8 of our sites this summer! Our crew uses a mechanical pump to be able to hose all around our hard to reach sites! We are responsible for watering our freshly planted sites for a cycle of 3-5 years depending on the need in that site! In addition to watering our crew also takes thoughtful time weeding around our plants!#tacomacrew #washingtonconservationcorps #restoration

In the beginning of the term this site was hard to imagine with most of the lush greenery by the creek being destroyed. Now it’s a thriving system rebirthed. Seeing this site after a hard winter of planting and tending, is more than a dream come true. #wcc #washingtonconservationcorps #urbanrestoration

Strong week for our members swapping on to the Navy Crew to support creek stabilization efforts. Tasks included dismantling beaver dams to help mitigate flooding, using underwater brush cutters to cut aquatic vegetation, and staking burlap rows into creekside.

In the winter our crews uses live staking, a form of propagation to continue the process by staking small trees into the burlap. Over time helping to prevent long term erosion and reduce city flooding. #tacomacrew #washingtonconservationcorps #restoration #wetland #tacoma

Tacoma Crew is back for another term! This week we did an orientation and walk through with our sponsers, got reaquainted and introduced to our sites / nursery and helped with the city of Tacoma’s GREEN DAY work party this weekend at our Wapato Hill’s sites.

In addition we got to spend some time with one of our members last year! Kiara Garcia who is now serving as the city of Tacoma’s urban forestry individual placement.
