POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We said we’d dance anyway — and we did.

REVIVAL 10 took the long way home. First a rain date, then a move indoors with barely a day’s notice. And you followed us every step of the way. To everyone who re-RSVP’d, walked over from the park, or found us at the side door on Thompson Street: thank you. You made the room.

A huge thank-you to @judsonchurchnyc for taking us in on such short notice. Performing in a space with so much dance history in its walls felt like coming home to somewhere we’d never been. It was iconic.

To our dancers, choreographers, crew, and volunteers: you adapted beautifully and gave everything.

That’s a wrap on REVIVAL 10. Twenty years of dance, and we’re just getting started. 💛

On October 3, CPC Manhattan Community Center hosted its annual Family Day Fair, bringing together hundreds of families at CPC One for a day of interactive games, activities, and community connection.

The Family Day Fair encourages families to spend meaningful time together, build supportive relationships, and strengthen connections within the community.

Community members also had the opportunity to learn more about the services and programs available through CPC and our partner organizations.

Yesterday, a federal judge dismissed the federal government’s lawsuit challenging New York City’s sanctuary city laws.

This decision is a win for our city, as these local laws are critical to ensuring that all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status, can access essential public services without fear.

In response to this decision, @faiza_n_ali, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, released the following statement:

Commissioner Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie joined NYC Health Commissioner Dr. Allister Martin and NYC Council Health Committee Chair Lynn Schulman to raise awareness about the importance of flu and COVID-19 vaccinations for older adults.

Today, our team at MOIA is proud to join @nycendgbv and others across NYC 💜🗽in wearing purple to raise awareness about domestic violence and the resources and support available for survivors.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call NYC’s 24-hour Hope Hotline at 1-800-621-HOPE (4673) to speak with an advocate.

To each survivor: we stand with you, and you are not alone.

A finalist on the citywide stage. A winner in our hearts. ❤️🎶

Nancy Moore Simpson represented our Encore community at today’s NYC Department for the Aging Talent is Timeless Grand Finale! She didn’t take home the top prize, but reaching the finals is an achievement we’re proud to celebrate. From Tennessee churches to opera, cabaret, and off-Broadway, Nancy has spent a lifetime sharing her love of music.

Her motto says it best: “Music Makes Everything Better.”

Show Nancy some love with a 👏 below—and congratulations to today’s winners and all the finalists!

In the early 2000s, my creative journey was transformed by mentors who opened my eyes to the profound power theater has to transform lives, strengthen communities, and create spaces for connection and belonging. Years later, upon becoming part of the Puerto Rican diaspora in New York City, I put those lessons into practice in service of a population that would profoundly transform my life once again.

New York City’s older adults (Super-Adults) are living archives of the city’s history, culture, and collective memory. They carry within them the stories, traditions, and lived experiences that have shaped this vibrant and diverse metropolis. Through my work with them, I came to understand that theater is not only a tool for artistic expression, but also a powerful vehicle for honoring their voices, preserving cultural heritage, fostering intergenerational connection, and affirming the dignity and value of every life story.

This is one of those projects that continues to thrive, thanks to the generous support of several organizations that believe in its mission.

“El sendero de mis manos” is a tribute to the labor legacy of a population too often forgotten: our older adults, our abuelas and abuelos. It honors the hands that have worked, built, nurtured, and sustained our communities, and the lives and stories that deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Thank you for your work, your commitment, and your love. ✨💜✨

What do WSFSSH social workers spend the most time on? Watch our CEO Paul Freitag answer at the Healthy Aging in Supportive Housing Symposium.

When older adults live together, care can come to them. Health care, nutrition, and social connection all in one place.

Swipe for more from the day. Thank you to @thenetworkny and fellow panelists for the conversation!

Older adults are at increased risk of getting very sick from the flu and COVID-19, so it’s especially important to get vaccinated this fall.

And it's safe to get both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines at the same time!
