Tonight, The Chai Queens takes the stage in Milan as part of @fringe_milano_off_festival — and we couldn’t be more excited, grateful, and a little emotional.

From India to Italy, this journey has taken so many people, so much faith, hard work and love to make it happen.

oh man this was hard to post here ahaha - clips from my first acting workshop - scene work performance.

Natak - Sakharam Binder.

Laxmi played by @akankshachoudhary_69 and I, is a deeply religious, quiet yet fierce character whose arc changes drastically throughout the play. She is brought home by Sakharam as his live in partner, but is mistreated by him over time, also tortured. There is a vivid sequence in the play where while torturing her he asks her to laugh - the second video clip ( act 1) is the first time Laxmi speaks up for herself and expresses her anger towards Sakharam.

The third video clip takes place in Act3 when she finds out about Champa ( sakharam’s new partner ) and Dawood’s ( Sakharam’s best friend) affair. She is almost blinded by her religious beliefs about how it is okay to be mistreated by a man but not okay to cheat on him. She converses with her idols about this secret affair.

Last clip a vindictive side of Laxmi is revealed where she discloses champa’s secret to Sakharam. Sakharam later, fueled with anger and mistrust accidentally kills Champa.

THE PLOT IS RLLY COOL AND these paras I’ve written are extremely short summaries of teeni meeni parts of the play. Laxmi was a conservative maharashtrian, domestically abused, submissive yet cunning woman.
