#FallForCstume26 Day 19: Wool
2 types of wool in this picture, socks are a wool/polly blend and the dress is a lovely dark pink thin wool that flows and breaths like a dream.
With the exception of the socks/hose this outfit was made for medieval week in Visby, Gotland, and not the state. It was made years before the lights dazzled me and the stage mesmerized me and I needed a medieval princess outfit in a month for a show and only had time to make hose and a hennin!
It is an incredible outfit but it's not made for the stage. It's warm and difficult to put on. And while that is part of the joke in the act, it also makes it difficult for me backstage, causing issues during the act if it's not laced perfectly.
I have plans to remake it either in organza or poly velvet (think dusty pink blackout curtains) to retain the flow of the fabric but give it that very much needed stage upgrade. I'll also be remaking the closures so that they retain their comedic multiplicity but are not so error sensitive, because when you have 15 minutes between acts to change outfits you don't want to be stressed about missing or misplacing a ribbon.
The hose are perfect and have done nothing wrong ever in their lives. Jokes aside this material while quite warm was very nice to work with. It bedazzled perfectly and I'll be adding even more in the future. The only issue was that some of the stitches loosened because they were done by hand. But I'll be honest, having built in fuzzy socks and leg warmers is a plus backstage when you don't know what the temperature would be. The hose themselves have been made the medieval way of basically making the loose pattern and then drafting it on my foot and leg and taking it in so they are very snug and need sitting down to take off but the fabric is pretty loose and has quite a lot of polly in it so I have noticed them loosening even after a few wears.

A bit delayed in posting these because I was glitter crashing HARD, but WOW what an incredible weekend @stockholmburlesquefestival was! I’m so honoured to have been included in the amazing line up, and met some absolutely incredible people. Thank you @fraulein_frauke and @johnpaulbichard for putting on such a fabulous festival 💜💜

« Rasputin », headlining @stockholmburlesquefestival 🥰

I can’t even begin to explain how thrilling it was to perform on this magnificent stage. First of all, the immense honor to headline such a grand festival… Then, the opportunity to perform this act on a stage large enough to really do it full out! Then, having the privilege to end the show, after such a fabulous lineup of artists … And last but not least, @fraulein_frauke and @johnpaulbichard masterful and deeply caring organization made it an unforgettable event.

One week later and I'm still floating on a cloud!

Thank you Stockholm Burlesque Festival, for giving me a moment on that stage that I will carry with me for a long time. To the producers @fraulein_frauke and @johnpaulbichard and the entire crew, you made magic happen!
