skylines and turnstiles has always meant a lot to me. knowing what led gerard to write it & start the band has always hit somewhere deep in my chest. i was 13 living in lower manhattan on 9/11. it shattered the sense of safety we thought we had. parents, friends, family… people who were just there were suddenly gone. “and in this moment, we can’t close the lid on our burning eyes, our memories blanket us, with friends we know, like fallout vapors… steel corpses stretch out towards an ending sun, scorched and black, it reaches in and tears your flesh apart, as ice cold hands rip into your heart…” witnessing that fueled a probably unhealthy - definitely unhealthy - teenage obsession with death. so when the black parade came out, i was completely consumed by the story, the imagery, every little detail. entire days, nights & weekends spent screaming, singing and crying to that album. getting to stand at the hollywood bowl as an adult and watch it come to life in a completely different way was absolutely fucking insane. i didn’t think i could love it more than i did then, but here we are. congratulations if you made it to the end of this caption 🫡 great month for live music. #mychemicalromance #hollywoodbowl #livemusic
