BITTER/SWEET

The strange part about progress is that eventually the things you once spoke about become your normal life.

The flights. The releases. The performances. The meetings. The new cities. The next project.

Then another one after that.

You spend so much time concentrating on what needs to happen next that you don’t always notice what has changed behind you.

“I was on the roam,
all around the globe…”

There were people around before any of this looked like a career. Before New York became somewhere I could create from.

Before travelling became part of the music. Before the stamps started adding up. Before Visionnaire became what it is becoming now.

And some of those people aren’t here anymore.

There doesn’t always have to be a villain in that story. Sometimes your life simply develops in a direction that another person’s doesn’t.

Priorities change. Time becomes harder to give. Distance becomes normal.

And eventually you realise that somebody who knew the earlier version of you never really got to experience the person you became.

That’s the contradiction at the centre of this record.

I wouldn’t trade the person I’ve become. But that doesn’t mean I can’t recognise what disappeared during the process.

BITTER / SWEET.
