Thank you to our local SEBCM team leads and advocates for showing up on this gorgeous fall day. And thank you @hangerfoundation for the empowerment grant to support @soeverybodycanmove. We appreciate your support and partnership.

Utah is working to grow awareness of the advocacy work of So Every BODY Can Move grassroots movement. We are working towards introducing legislation in 2026 for Utahns to get access to devices that help them move in our beautiful state 🏔️ 🏃‍♀️🧗 ❄️ 🌲 🚴 🛶 ☀️ 🏊‍♀️ 🏂

We were proud to honor C9 today at the capstone ceremony, the culmination of their research projects, presentations and reflection on their time with us. C10 and C11 also received their aprons which we will have pictures of soon.

Katie's @oandp_kb (C9) sweet girl Kallie injured the ligaments in her right front paw and needs a carpal hyperextension orthosis. Glad to see her back on the feet. Want to show off your fur babies? Tag us or use the hashtag #llumsoppets

Grind Carbon they said...it'll be fun they said...

Actually, grinding carbon fiber is one of the least favorite tasks that we do in the O&P lab. The tiny fibers irritate your skin and make your itch, you don't want to breathe them in and they get everywhere. A mask helps but a respirator and some long sleeves are the best choice for protecting yourself while grinding carbon laminates.

These pictures show C9 students Caroline and Katie while they were grinding and smoothing the edges of the prepreg laminations that we posted footage of last Friday.

Cohorts 9 and 10, along with some guests were in lab on Friday for a practical curriculum day with Professor Moor. They learned about Pre-impregnated carbon lamination. This technique is used in aerospace, automotive and the medical field to name a few. It allows for tighter control of what parts of the device are flexible and which are rigid. They will return to finish these products next Friday

Transhumeral harnessing, check out and presentations happened in lab yesterday with Cohort 9 and Instructor Openshaw. The students made final adjustments on their Transhumeral prostheses and then presented to their class. They did a great job.
