Talking the talk, walking the walk…

With collecting, connecting with artists is vital. You learn about their practice, what they have going on, and what matters to them. Their works will hang in your homes and businesses, so it’s really important you learn as much about them as possible. One way of doing this is by visiting their studios. Magic happens at the studios, and at times, you can get that piece you’ve been eyeing if you catch the artist in a good mood.

Beyond studio visits, you can return the favour and invite artists to your homes too. Let them come and see how their pieces sit on your walls and how you are looking after them.

Besides the artists, another networking piece is that which is done with other collectors and gallerists. Again, this is important as you get to learn what they are collecting, who they think is doing exciting stuff, and much more. See our post from last week for more on this.
