PLEASE, DON'T MAKE YOUR CHILD FEEL STUPID FOR STRUGGLING TO LEARN. 💔

I wasn't the brightest student in every subject. In Mathematics, I struggled. Sometimes, learning was genuinely difficult for me.

But do you know what made it worse? Teachers who made me feel dumb because I couldn't understand something they thought was simple.

Thank God for my mum, who recognised when certain school environments were hurting me and took me away from them. ❤️

Now, here's what I want every parent to understand:

YOUR CHILD IS NOT STUPID JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU.

You may have explained something ten times, and they still don't get it. I understand how frustrating that can be.

But please, don't call them dumb.
Don't call them useless.
Don't tell them they aren't intelligent.

You are teaching a child, not testing their worth.

Sometimes, they need more time. Sometimes, they need a different explanation. And sometimes, YOU need to take a break and let someone with more patience take over.

Not every child will excel in Mathematics. Not every child will learn at the same pace. But every child deserves the opportunity to learn without being made to feel inferior.

As parents and teachers, our job is to build children up, not destroy their confidence in the process of educating them.

Because years later, your child might forget the lesson you taught them, but they may never forget how you made them feel when they couldn't understand it.

Correct the child. Teach the child. Be patient with the child. But never make the child feel worthless for struggling.

Let's raise children who believe in themselves, even when learning gets difficult. ❤️

Have a blessed Monday!

It’s Wednesday. 😮‍💨

This week has been a LOT.

As a Year 1 Early Career Teacher in the UK, I have been adapting lessons, taking on responsibilities, solving problems and doing everything I can to keep things moving.

Yesterday, I left school at 8pm.

This morning, I was already on my way back before 7am.

But you know what?

I stopped. Took some beautiful pictures. Breathed. And reminded myself that I am still here walking in God's perfect will for my life ❤️

And then I had to ask myself the same question about my weight-loss journey…

Have I been showing up?

No.

Will I give up?

NO.

Will I start showing up again?

YES.

Because life will happen. Work will get busy. Some weeks will be harder than others but God will always be faithful.

We don’t have to be perfect.

We just have to keep moving.

Because we what?

WE MOVE.
WE NEVER GIVE UP.
THAT’S HOW WE ROLL. 🔥❤️

If you’ve fallen off with something you promised yourself you would do, this is your sign to start again.

No guilt. No excuses. Just start.

If you’ve made up your mind that you’re NOT giving up, drop your favourite emoji below. 👇🏾❤️

FLASHBACK TO 2023 | EPISODE 2 🇳🇬

And now, we get into the conversation.
In this episode, I sat down with Femi Falana, SAN, to talk about fuel subsidy in Nigeria—what it means and, more importantly, how it affects ordinary Nigerians.

It was a simple question, but it opened the door to a much bigger conversation about something that has affected all of us in one way or another.

This was only the beginning. 🇳🇬

Episode 2 is here. ❤️🎥

🎥 FLASHBACK TO 2023 — EPISODE 1

My organisation had been shut down by the Benin government.

In the middle of everything, I had the privilege of interviewing Femi Falana, SAN.

At the time, I thought it was just another assignment.

I thought the interview would be broadcast on Golfe TV Africa.

It never aired.

But that's not even the part of this story that shocks me most… 👀

I had invited my husband to come with me.

I didn't know WHY I wanted him there.

I just knew I wanted him there.

And years later, I look back and think…

God knew something I didn't know.

Sometimes, God is already preparing you for a chapter you don't even know is coming.

This is only the beginning. 🥹

Throwback to 2023. ❤️

This event in Djougou, Northern Benin Republic, was very special to me. My big sister invited me to anchor it, and I had the absolute pleasure of translating from English to French for His Excellency, Ambassador Olukayode Aluko

But there was a lot happening behind that smile.

This was the first event I anchored after I was duped of ₦3 million.

And to make things even more interesting? 😭😂

The audience was predominantly French-speaking, so I had to show up in French—with a little English here and there.

Was it challenging? Absolutely.

But did I show up?

YES, I SHOWED UP. 🎤🔥

Whatever you’re going through, you shield it, bring your A-game to the table, and deliver.

That’s the life of an MC.

If you’ve ever had to smile through something nobody knew about, this one is for you. ❤️

Tell me in the comments: Have you ever had to “show up” when life was happening behind the scenes?

When your client’s review hits differently! 🥹❤️

I had the privilege of anchoring my friend’s little one’s 1st birthday celebration right here in London, and honestly it was an amazing experience!

But here’s the thing: it’s one thing for me to think I did an amazing job, and it’s another thing to hear it from the celebrant’s parents. 🥹

Their feedback meant so much to me because this was actually my first event of the year.

My PGCE programme had me BUSY BUSY BUSY! 😂📚 I was practically living between lesson plans, assignments, teaching practice and deadlines.

But now? I’m back behind the microphone! 🎤🔥

From anchoring events in Africa to bringing that same energy to celebrations here in the UK, I’m officially opening my books for UK events. 🇬🇧

✨ Weddings
✨ Birthdays
✨ Corporate events
✨ Cultural celebrations
✨ Bilingual events
✨ Special occasions

If you’re looking for an energetic, engaging and professional MC who knows how to keep your guests entertained and your event flowing, let’s talk! 🎤

And yes… the parents’ review is coming next. 👀❤️

EPISODE 2 — WHEN LIFE HIT ME FROM EVERY DIRECTION

If you watched Episode 1, you know that I went from 125kg to 88kg in 2017… and eventually gained the weight back.

But to understand what happened, you need to understand what was happening in my life at the time.

I was duped of ₦3 million.

Then I lost my job at Golfe TV and Golfe FM the biggest and only bilingual media house in Benin Republic.

The Beninese government shut down the stations, and just like that, I lost my job.

Then, in October…

I lost my only brother.

I had to take my mum to the mortuary to see her only son.

Then came the burial preparations.

The police.

The petitions.

The fight for answers.

Because my brother’s death was due to medical negligence.

I wasn't just grieving.

I was trying to hold my family together while fighting for answers and trying to make sense of losing my only brother.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I was trying to survive.

Looking back now, I understand that my weight wasn't simply about food.

There was financial loss.

There was unemployment.

There was grief.

There was stress.

There was emotional exhaustion.

And I was carrying all of it.

This is the part of my story people didn't see when they saw the weight coming back.

So when you look at my transformation, don't just look at the numbers.

There was a woman behind those numbers trying to survive one of the hardest seasons of her life.

And this is why I'm telling this story.

Because this time, I don't just want to lose weight.

I want to understand myself, heal, and build a lifestyle I can actually sustain.

🎙️ Storytelling with Hazel Ogoigbe — Episode 2.

If you've ever gone through a season where life seemed to hit you from every direction, tell me in the comments. ❤️

I spent years hiding my biggest achievements... not anymore. ✨

For years, I have hidden my light under a bushel, rarely telling the world about the opportunities I have had or the stages I have stood on.
But that ends now.

I have made a decision to stop second-guessing myself, put myself out there, and confidently share the journey God has taken me on.
Here's one of those moments.

In 2022, I had the incredible honour of serving as the bilingual MC for the Nigerian Ambassador's Letter of Credence Ceremony in Benin Republic. 🇳🇬🤝🇧🇯

Standing on that stage, switching seamlessly between English and French, I wasn't just hosting an event 😊 I was helping connect two nations through communication.

From Nigeria to Benin Republic, and now the UK, every stage has reminded me that your gift can make room for you if you're willing to step into the light.

This is just the beginning. There are many stories I've never shared, and I'm excited to finally bring you along on the journey.

Thank you for being here. ❤️

Review Wednesday! 💙

Today's review is especially close to my heart.
The proudest part of my job isn't getting paid. It's watching my students win. 🥹❤️
At Zeffy Consults, we have three arms: Zeffy Fitness, Zeffy Media, and Zeffy Language Consults. Today, I am shining the spotlight on Zeffy Language Consults.

This is a review from one of my former French students, Anya, whom I taught while I was living in Cotonou, Benin Republic. She attended the Indian International School, and it was such a joy to watch her grow in confidence, improve her French, and excel in her exams.

Moments like these remind me why I do what I do. Language is more than just words 😊 it breaks barriers, builds confidence, and opens doors to opportunities, no matter your nationality or background.

So, if you are looking to become bilingual, prepare for your TCF or TEF exam, improve your French for work, school, or travel, or position yourself for international opportunities, Zeffy Language Consults is here to help.

DM French to get started
o'd love to be part of your language journey.
Because every new language you learn is another door you unlock.

This weight loss journey has taught me something very important, you don't just need discipline, you need support systems and mine showed up as sisters.
Sisters to hold your hand when you are weak.
Sisters to motivate you when you want to give up.
Sisters to cheer you when the results start showing.
Sisters to hype you when you finally put on that outfit you couldn't wear before.
I can never thank my bestyy enough for adding me to a circle of women who have been everything and more.
And now, as a coach, that same energy flows both ways 😁 I get to pour into my students with everything in me, pushing them toward the results they dream of… and somehow, I receive just as much motivation back.
It's a privilege to water and be watered. 🌱
Grateful. Always.
