On way back from our Palm Springs visit, I stopped to visit my son @eriksmodernlife and his lovely wife. So why not stop by Japan town and go to the Capcom pop up and @world8la game store while I’m there right?!

Both world 8 stores are nice places to visit and I got a surprisingly great deal on a copy of Die Hard Arcade. Another one of my “games to buy before I retire” knocked off the list!

The Capcom pop up was…pretty cleaned out. Seems like they just focused on major franchises. Since I love street fighter and Megaman so much..maybe being cleaned out was a good thing, wasn’t exactly swimming in cash after our vacation..lol

Only street fighter 5ing of substance they had left was a ton of Luke plushies. Why so many left? Because no matter the form…Luke Sucks. No one cares about Luke Capcom!

Here is the bootleg cartridge version of the Japanese floppy disk version of Green Beret, also known as Russian Attack in America🤡

Did you guys even know about the secret underground passage in Stage 2, 4 & 5? Here are 3 ways to reveal the entrance: rocket launcher, grenade, and the Kamimaze way for the real green berets.

Another #fightinggamefriday another great Neo Geo fighter.

I always marveled at what an amazing fighting game library the Dreamcast has yet..one of the worst controllers ever for fighting games..lol. Luckily I have the Dreamcast stick

My history with this franchise started in Korea, there was a last blade arcade unit outside a small store at a ROK (Korean Air Force) base I’d have to work at one week a month both alone and with my Korean counterparts (freaking amazing folks) .

So I Played the F outta that! I’d always show up with a pocket of 100 won coins to last me the week..lol

If you know that franchise take a guess who my fav was and if you know me..you’ll guess right. ➡️swipe to see Personally I never call him Amano Hyo, I always call him “Man Ho” which..he kind of is, so it’s fitting. And I would not be surprised if his name choice was based on man ho..lol His swagger is amazing!

And last blade 2 does not disappoint! It’s simply gorgeous, the mechanics are improved as is the multiplayer stuff.

Only place I’d have to give Last Blade the nod over this is the single player experience. The original had better story , cut scenes and cinematic boss fights.

Still, I’d love to see a modern Last Blade one that’s more traditional old school fighter than all these technical add ons we’ve been getting in fighters. Gimme meat and potatoes where I have to learn my opponent not 100 hit juggle combos that take 80% life away from my opponent ..lol

Happy #fightinggamefriday ! (A day late 🤫, I forgot to transfer this pic yesterday so I could post during my break..lol)

Arc System Works of Guilty Gear, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Blaz Blue etc etc fame. Made this one, sorry Capcom.

It looks awesome, great character designs, controls and music. Good single player options and a nice online lobby that so far..isn’t as toxic as SF6’s lobby Capcom seems to have forgotten thier promise to police.

Very easy entry for casuals but it can get pretty deep as well. I’ve found it to be a challenge getting actually good at the game because theirs quite a bit. I think just learning one character and all the systems , getting it hardwired in and then branching out to the rest of your team maybe best.

Me? Well my roll of always picking who I like versus who is good continues. I’m enamored with Carnage whose soundtrack and super attacks are just the freaking best!

But you’ll be fighting a lot of Magik’s, Blade’s and Spider-Man’s because most gamers pick to win..which makes total sense , I’ve just always been about who’s fun.

For me the biggest challenge is how to play controller wise. This game is obviously made with a controller in mind and I’m a fighting stick guy..I started pad just to get it, went to stick but I think I’m going back. I don’t like a pad for fighting games except Tekken , but it seems like a pad maybe the way to go..still working it out,

In any case, it’s a MARVELous fighting game that I wish wasn’t just on PS5 and Windows..seems strange in today’s fighting game climate to be so restricted to options.

HUGE #fightinggamefriday for me!

The only Power Instinct game I haven’t played and now it’s mine! So this is Power Instinct Matrimelle …kind of. The PS2 version is an updated port with some slight improvements, a training mode, full transformations , a few new characters and one thing I have mixed feeling about…a new boss.

The only thing I didn’t like about the original (nor does anyone) is the Boss is damn near impossible to beat, she’s like a SNK boss on bath salts.

The only other downside is we lose the two Rage of the Dragons crossover characters but that’s fine because we get enough new stuff to make you not pine for more.

This is hands down one of the wildest fighting games ever . I mean if you can use your wand to change a person into a duck or a pig and then kick that animals butt? Yeah..I’m in!

Now this is a very dated fighter control/combo wise and while I would have liked to have seen power instinct mature like say street fighter did..I still am excited for all the bizarre characters, levels and just straight up kookiness of this game.

Sadly I don’t 5ink I’ll ever own a true neo geo copy of the arcade version. MVS is over $1k and AES is $3.5k…oh and this one isn’t cheap. Goes for about $225 and up.

The Dynamite Cop series was my favorite beat em up back in the day. The last game in the series is Asian Dynamite on the Sega Naomi, a rare gem that was never ported to any other console!

Playing this hilarious classic today on my Anbernic RG ARC handheld. A cool feature in this one is that every character can pick up upgrade items to transform into different costumes with new moves and abilities.

Will post gameplay videos of the other 2 characters soon!

What do these two games have in common?! Do you know?!

Thrill Kill was a fighting game that got cancelled but working copies in different states of completion started circulating on the internet right away. Those of us with modded PS1’s were downloading the f outta them, burning to a disk and then having bloody 4 player matches with gloriously brutal kills once those kill meters got filled! If you’ve never heard of it, go check out gameplay.

The game was one of the first games the esrb rated AO and the 1st game to get that rating..just because of the violence!

And then sadly..EA gained the publishing rights to Virgin games for North America and killed the release because of said violence.

So where the F does the Wu-Tang game come into this you say? Well, thrill kill got reskinned and toned down and made into..yep, you guessed it. Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style. WTSS is a more polished game and of course has an extremely better sound track but..once you’ve played TK first, you do miss the over the top violence and the panic of having to run away when one person gets thier thrill meter built up and starts hunting the rest..lol

P.S. it should come as no surprise that the character I played the most in thrill kill was Cain the arsonist whose extra costume was…bunker pants (what you see us firefighters wear to structural fires).

Seriously, you need to check out the game or at least hit up wiki and read the characters stories like : Belladonna a librarian who became a Dominatrix then killed her hubby and sister for having an affair. And that’s probably the tamest story..lol

Famitsu 40th Anniversary edtion is here!

Amazing tribute artwork from all the big game companies. Meanwhile, Ubisoft just slapped an image and buried their own character's face in the middle of the spine.

Zero effort. No wonder the market is punishing their stock. 📉
