Tết Trung Thu, as it's known in Vietnamese, dates back over 1,000 years and has grown into a time for families to come together with colorful lanterns, lion dances, and, of course, mooncakes.

I'm grateful to our event partners, Stanton Councilmember Hong Alyce Van, Julie Diep and the OC Autism Foundation, plus Scott Do from my office, for the hard work in putting together a fantastic event.

A special thank you to the lion dancers from the La Quinta High School Vietnamese Student Association and student performers from the DeMille Elementary School Mỹ Việt Language Academy!

In Vietnamese culture, the mooncake symbolizes health, happiness, luck, and wealth. The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Tết Trung Thu, dates back over 1,000 years and was originally a harvest celebration that marked the end of the summer growing season. In Vietnam, it has evolved into a joyous celebration for families and children, complete with colorful lanterns, lion dances, and mooncakes.

I hope you’ll bring your family and friends and enjoy the traditional live performances, plus complimentary lanterns, snacks, and, of course, delicious mooncakes. 🥮

I’m very grateful to the City of Stanton for again providing this year’s location at Stanton Central Park, as well as to our partners, Stanton Councilmember Hong Alyce Van and Julie Diep and the OC Autism Foundation, for their ongoing leadership and support!

Lee Miles Buchanan… yelled shut up & laughed (and his band smiled and nodded in agreement) to a special needs fan in a wheelchair who was making his cheering noise during a slow song, and made the whole place look at the single mom who was with him in the wheelchair section, and embarrassed them so bad they left. !!! Yet said nothing to the people yapping at the stage, in my footage you can hear other people talking and laughing. This known review writer who’s also a known special needs family and community advocate, told the crowd that was him cheering and then I ran to let the single mom know, she’s not alone in being afraid of going out in public, because of this very type of treatment.
