The sometimes sad reality of scuba diving ⬇️
Diving or snorkeling with whalesharks can be the most wonderful thing ! It can also be the most overwhelming...
The lack of regulations, on how many boats can drop divers on a whaleshark, or how many poeple can be in the water with it, in most places in the world, can create this type of situation. It is not a criticism to the people or the companies, but a call to regulate the industry.
In this video, there are no bad behaviors towards the whaleshark. A vast majority of dive professionals and divers behave extremely well when encountering these beautiful animals. But some will always try to take advantage of the situation to touch or get a photo too close to the animal.

Sometimes when encountering such animals the best thing to do is to step back, or not call other companies to join in.

Nature spares no one… not even the most innocent.

I met this green sea turtle in the ocean in the Caribbean sea.

One side of her face was severely affected by fibropapilomatosis, a disease that can cause debilitating tumors in sea turtles.
The other side still revealed the beautiful creature she was.

I don't know what happened to her after our encounter. I can only hope she finds peace.

We often see the ocean as a paradise, but beneath its beauty, there is also suffering, fragility, and loss.

Not every encounter leaves us with a smile. Some stay with us because they remind us how precious life is.
