POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Vom Bewusstsein ins Handeln.

Der Clean-Up Point macht es einfach. Beutel nehmen. Losgehen. Aufheben. Wirkung zeigen.

Für unsere Natur. Für Tiere. Für unsere Meere.
Und für die, die nach uns kommen.

Kinder lernen durch das, was sie sehen.

Mahi-mahi: el motor del Serengueti azul. 🌊🐟

There's always more behind what you see (on this App or even in real life).

Not everything is loud, not everything is obvious.
But it's real.

What about you?

We were delighted to host a reception yesterday to kick off the third BBNJ PrepCom. Thank you to everyone who joined us! It was a great way to begin what we hope will be a constructive and collaborative week of discussions.

As we move forward, we look ahead with optimism that these conversations will lead to strong outcomes for an effective BBNJ Agreement that truly delivers for our shared ocean, as we prepare for the first Conference of the Parties.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Co-Chairs Amb. Janine Coye-Felson and Mr. Adam McCarthy and the Assistant Secretary-General for Legal Affairs Mr. Steven Hill for their encouraging remarks and support.

A special thank you as well to our member co-sponsors for helping us make this event possible: @conservationorg Coral Reefs of the High Seas Coalition, @earthecho @greenpeace @ifawglobal @iucn_official @nrdc_org @oceanoazulfoundation @oceancare @oceans_north @parliamentarians.champions @pewtrusts @nature_org

Now is the moment for collective action. We all have a role to play in making the first COP a success. Ratify now! #60toGlobal

The final days of the workshop explored some of the most complex challenges in sea turtle medicine.

Participants discussed buoyancy disorder, surgical case management and parasitology, while practical sessions covered procedures such as Targeted External Weight Therapy and oesophageal tube insertion. They also learned about radiographic techniques and diagnostic approaches used to assess internal injuries and guide clinical decision-making.

The week concluded with discussions around criteria for release and post-release monitoring, reinforcing the ultimate goal of rehabilitation: returning healthy sea turtles safely back to the ocean. 🌊

To allow more time for discussion, several advanced topics — including fibropapillomatosis, chronic debilitation syndrome, and clinical case discussions — will continue in a follow-up online webinar next week.

It was an inspiring week of shared knowledge, collaboration, and dedication to improving sea turtle care across the region. 👏🏽🐢

Schools of endangered hammerhead sharks have been found to congregate around the Cocos Seamounts in the Eastern Pacific, connecting Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands 🦈

The nutrient-rich waters that surround the seamounts provide the perfect place for sharks to hunt and rest during their oceanic migrations, alongside acting as navigational waypoints.

Currently, one quarter of all shark and ray species are threatened according to the @iucn_official Red List criteria due to overfishing. The scalloped hammerhead shark, found around Cocos Seamount, is of special concern.

The upcoming @cms.migratory.species Conference of the Parties (COP15) in Brazil will be a pivotal moment to recognize seamounts for the integral role they play in the lifecycles and survival of our ocean’s great travellers ⛰️
