Proof that when two people fall in love, the joy belongs to everyone. 🥹🤍

Kim & Peter’s love had the whole room celebrating — but Uncle understood the assignment a little differently 😂🕺🏾 From the dance floor to the biggest smiles, this is exactly what weddings are supposed to feel like.

Pure joy. Good music. Your favorite people. And a love worth celebrating. 🥂✨

Traditional Cambodian Wedding x Catholic Wedding

This couple reached out because they wanted a photographer who is Cambodian, understands the culture, and speaks the Khmer language — but who also understands a Catholic mass. I’m both. Cambodian and Catholic (we’re rare, but not nonexistent 😅). So honestly, I wasn’t that hard to find.. at all!

I was born and raised in Lowell (partially Lawrence too… we’ll save those stories for the personal page), and I grew up going to St. Patrick’s Church — the oldest Catholic church in Lowell, and the third oldest in the Archdiocese of Boston. Lowell also happens to be the 2nd largest Cambodian community in the country, so between church and community, I can’t count how many Cambodian weddings I’ve been to.

I’m from Lowell, but I live in north Florida now — and I’ve slowly built my business back out to New England for wedding photography. When this couple asked if I was willing to travel there, well heck yea, don’t gotta ask me twice.

Neither side of their wedding was new to me. Multicultural weddings like theirs combine two traditions that don’t usually share a schedule… and it was a long one! They started at 9am and ended at midnight. The Khmer ceremony had the groom’s procession, the monks’ blessing, honoring the ancestors, the bonding of both families, the hair-cutting ceremony, the candle ceremony, and the knot-tying — each with its own order and meaning. The Catholic ceremony had the mass and the vows, the part of their faith that mattered just as much.

@oceancityent was the DJ of the night and he nailed it.. blending Cambodian and American music. @mc_chachastars was a big hit as she taught everyone to dance to Cambodian music. Everyone danced!

It was a day full of moments like that — ones that only work even better when someone understands both sides of it. Knowing both meant I wasn’t guessing during the day, and I could guide them when they didn’t know what to expect. For a couple blending two cultures and two faiths into one wedding, that mattered — it’s why they felt comfortable handing me the day.
