19 days at sea, then this ⛰️🏝️

My favourite thing about the Marquesas is the culture and the dramatic landscape. Being so far from the rest of French Polynesia, I think it’s held on to its traditions and values even more, and you can really see it. The carvings, the dancing, the intricate Marquesan tattoos you see everywhere, the ancient tikis hidden in the jungle, and people who welcome you like family. Riding horses through the valleys felt like stepping back in time.

Our first landfall after the Coconut Milk Run from Mexico 2026, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2024 for its landscapes and living culture. Middle of the Pacific. Unreal.

You never forget your first glimpse of the Marquesas.

After thousands of miles of open ocean, they rise straight out of the sea like nowhere else on Earth.

Before sunrise, the silhouettes of towering volcanic peaks began to emerge from the darkness. After days of seeing nothing but an endless horizon, watching mountains suddenly appear from the middle of the Pacific is a sight that makes your jaw drop. No previous photos you’ve seen can possibly prepare you for moment.

As the first light reached the islands, the sun rose over the Marquesas while the full moon slowly set behind us—a moment I’ll never forget. And as if the Pacific was giving us one final welcome, we landed a fish just after sunrise as dolphins escorted our entrance.

Out here, squalls are part of the rhythm of the ocean.

They drift across the trade winds like moving curtains of rain—bringing cooler air, shifting winds, and a reminder that no two hours at sea are ever the same.

The Pacific is always changing. That’s what makes the ride so fun.

Crossing the equator is one of those moments every sailor remembers. After weeks at sea, we finally crossed into the Southern Hemisphere and celebrated with our own version of the traditional equator crossing ceremony. One of those seafaring traditions that’s been passed down through generations and I am grateful to be a part of.

Night watch moments sailing across the pacific- a lot of people ask if we stop at night on passage absolutely not! We go full steam ahead sailing 24/7. On this particular voyage we did 3,300 nautical miles straight non stop under the moon, stars, and rain 💫✨⛵️
