Senior Spotlight 🎓✨

Today we’re celebrating Savion Smith (@sa_v1on ) a graduating high school senior who is taking his talents to the next level, having signed and committed to continue both his academic and athletic career at Oklahoma City University (@ocu.rowing | @oklahomacityuniversity ).

One of the highlights of his rowing journey was winning gold in the 2V 4x at the Central Regional Championships, an accomplishment that reflects the dedication, perseverance, and work ethic that have defined his path thus far.

And what’s next?

@usrowing 2026 National Championship. Ayyyyeee to the natty!!! 🏆

His words of wisdom come from the anime FLCL (Fooly Cooly):

“Nothing can happen until you swing the bat.”

The message is simple but powerful: if you want to grow, change your circumstances, or achieve something meaningful, you have to take action. Opportunities don’t happen by waiting, they happen when you’re willing to step up, take risks, and bet on yourself.

Savion, thank you for the energy, determination, and ambition you bring to the rowing community. We are excited to watch your journey continue at OCU and can’t wait to see what happens when you keep swinging for the fences. Congratulations and we wish you all the best in these next 4 and beyond!! 💙🖤
