Oddysseys — However You Want It (2026, Shuga Records)
@oddysseys

post-punk | lo-fi | shoegaze
#music #e_music #E_music

~ Born out of pure resilience and a strict DIY ethic, the massive new 16-track album from Chicago-based outfit Oddysseys is a masterclass in modern nu-goth melancholy. Written, recorded, and mixed entirely by frontman Christian Treon in his cramped, pitch-black apartment studio—navigating everything from independent funding to literal studio flooding—the record wears its gritty lo-fi production like a badge of honor. ~

~ At its core, However You Want It seamlessly injects a heavy, modern nu-goth aesthetic into classic dark alternative music. It delivers driving post-punk basslines reminiscent of The Cure and Bauhaus, the melodic guitar romanticism of The Stone Roses and New Order, and the sharp, modern tension of Interpol.

~ What sets this record apart is how these moody textures dissolve into heavy shoegaze walls of sound and ghostly darkwave synths, all driven forward by a hypnotic, danceable club pulse. Tracks like the standout single "Heaven Signs Clearly" burn bright with raw, occult-tinged intent, making this album a definitive, atmospheric centerpiece for the modern nu-goth playlist. ~
