The most unique dinner I've ever had in New York

@technics_global invited me to @odo.nyc one of a kind dinner. They paired each dish with music through their new A1000 headphones, and it was one of the best dining experiences I've had. Truly an amazing way to romanticize dinner.

Send this to the friend you'd do a headphone dinner with 🎧

Some places are meant to be discovered slowly.

Behind Odo, Odo Lounge is a small retreat for Japanese spirits, premium original cocktails, seasonal bites, and unhurried conversation.
A whisky poured with care. A small dish inspired by the season. Flowers that change with the time of year.
At Odo, seasonality is at the heart of everything we do — and Odo Lounge is another expression of that philosophy, in a more intimate setting.

Come for a drink. Stay for the moment.

Q3 review. Saw daniel again after two years. Shed no more than one drop of tear.

Aska was great, brought my favorite Riesling and turns out to be decent pairing. 8.5/10

Yum

End of summer biking at Central Park

But just cant stop getting on the slope

And building for the coming season

Playing dress up

Three dozen of oyster and 1.5 dozen of clams is peak

More yum at Odo

Probably my favorite menu iteration at Odo

But not big fan of fig personally

Golden hours poorly captured

Decent quarter, 8/10. Wish we had more time and create more memories. But always be grateful where we are right now. See you again soon

Every month and every week, we ask the kitchen one question: what’s the “shun”?

The Japanese term Shun (旬) is the fleeting moment when an ingredient reaches its absolute peak — peak flavor, peak aroma, peak vitality. It’s the heartbeat of the kaiseki counter at Odo (@odo.nyc), and now it flows into the cocktail glass at Odo Lounge (@odo.lounge.nyc), where our Shun Cocktail series puts the produce front and center — never the back seat.

Currently, it’s finger lime — a fruit that carries its own caviar. Tart, green, with a whisper of herbal bitterness. So we turned to a classic: the Last Word.
But instead of rebuilding it, we let the fruit do the work. A cedar gin from California, a locally made green herbal liqueur in place of Chartreuse — and the finger lime’s character already woven into every sip. A classic, stripped down to match the season.

Here for a week or two more. Come taste it while it’s shun.

Let us hear what ingredients you want to find in our future Shun cocktails.

While many Japanese restaurants here in America serve dishes based in the “yoshoku” tradition… Japanese-Western fusion cuisine… there has never really been a menu devoted entirely to this style of Japanese food culture. Until now.

For the next month, Chef Nakago Matsumoto of the renowned Kyoto restaurant Yoshoku Nakago, which carries a one-year waitlist, brings his singular interpretation of this tradition to New York for the first time during his residency at THE GALLERY by Odo.

Chef Matsumoto will be serving an inspired menu of yoshoku classics, elevated in his signature style using locally sourced ingredients, for both lunch and dinner in the second of Odo’s “Culinary Exhibition Series”. We were lucky to get a preview of his dazzling dishes last week, which are planned follows…

The Nakago lunch set will cost $38 and include coleslaw with house cured ham & potato salad, rice, sweet corn soup and your choice of entree:
- Menchikatsu (deep fried beef & pork “meatloaf”)
- Japanese Hamburger Steak
- Japanese Beef Stew
- Ginger Pork
Gâteau au Chocolat will be served for dessert.

The Nakago dinner set will cost $70 with the same options as lunch, but expanded to also include deep-fried shrimp and Neapolitan spaghetti.

For guests looking to try more than just one main dish, you may order additional entrees for $22 each.

We loved every bite and look forward to New York diners finally getting to try this often overlooked part of Japan’s culinary culture. Welcome to the Big Apple, Chef Matsumoto!

As an added bonus, The Gallery now features an insightful retrospective on the life and work of acclaimed composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto.
