I just wanted to take a second and showcase some of the other titles I got in from our friends @blowtorchrecords over in Ireland.

First up is His Fathers Voice with their album “Black Poison Morning’. This is a smash up of post-punk, new wave, and indie rock. It’s kinda broody, it’s kinda dancey, it’s just a vibe. Ash O’Connor delivers some awesome vocals on it. Worth a listen for sure.

Next is Of All Living Things with their EP ‘Cold Plunge’. The is shogaze/slowcore which will fit nicely right next to your Mazzy Star records. You really get lost in these recordings.

Then we have Turnstiles with a compilation of their collected works. Sadly this band is no more, but it is worth checking this out even though you’ll never see them live. It is awesome Irish punk with great lyrics.

Lastly is Scattered Ashes with their EP “All That is Solid Melts into Air’. This is straight up and down post-punk. Lots of good basslines, solid drumming, and ear wormy guitar work. Although it is short it manages to pack quite a punch.

All of these are available in the shop and range from $20-30

Next up ...we are thrilled to announce @ofalllivingthings a four-piece Dublin based band featuring the incredible talents of Cian, Cam, Danilo and Eunice. Inspired by nostalgia and memories of their youth, their sound is reminiscent of 90's slowcore and alternative music, with textured guitars complementing delicate female vocals.

Following their 2021 debut EP On Familiar Ground and the 2022 single Mostly Timing, the band has recently released a six track EP tiled Cold Plunge along with the lead single If I'm Honest which is available now.

Catch them live at the Croílár Music and Arts Festival April 4th-6th 2025 🎸 🎤 🎶

Hello! July/August’s new Irish music reviews round-up is now online over on the @anoisosard substack 🪁

Mad how fast this year is going tbh. I get into that just a little bit in the preamble to this edition. Been rifling through old hard drive folders, pranging out about the passage of time, and marvelling at how much phone cameras have improved over the past 10 years. I thought it would be neat to blend a load of awful old gig pics into a sort of uncanny abstract jumble, as blurry as the memories tied to them, for this newsletter’s lead image. So that’s what that is!

That aside, there’s an absurd amount of good music here - more than enough to tide you over until I come back from a bit of a break around late September or so. As ever, thanks for reading, subscribing etc. Shares of all sorts massively appreciated.

Hope you’re having a nice summer x
