Dreams are being delayed — not by chance, but by systems.

We have the data. We’ve heard the stories.
And still, nothing changes.

The Ministry of Education has stayed silent. That silence has consequences.

Now it’s our turn to be loud.

Flood your local MPP’s inbox. Demand they speak up. Demand action.

It takes less than a minute.

Our Black History Month celebrations at work ended on a high note with the BTWA Gala, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to wrap up the month! ✨

Here’s a little recap of the night—if you came out, thank you for the love and support! If you missed it, don’t worry, we’ve got plenty more to come. The work doesn’t stop here!

On February 7th on a futuristic fabolous Friday evening we hosted a wonderful artist talk at our JFM+ community studio space inside Jane Finch Mall.

Rich conversations were had with the campaign's artist discussing the process and experience of working with TTC and the support they felt like they would need moving forward.
The consensus was we all hope that this is first but not the last of possible collaborations with different large institutions and corporations.

What a time we had last night @blxckqueen_4life @officialbtwa Black Ball Gala best Corporate event I’ve seen in awhile what a 👏 great job putting it together! I’ve been in Corporate world working in office for a # of years & my creative side also Djing tons of events with drummers 🪘, Brazilian dancers 💃🏻& so much more. I can say this one was at the top.

This is why TTC @takethettc is ranked top 100 companies I can see the culture. Now if only they would hire me in Corporate office the CEO told me to say his name after talking to him expect to see that on my coverletters! HR I know you see me I will beat AI someday & the thousands applying! 😂👀🙏

Jokes aside, food was great @djniterider @iamchoicemc killed their sets, @rayrobinsonakarayon wow what a performance & the fur I gave him looked good on him! 🤣🙌🏼

Great banquet hall and staff! Hope to be back next year and spread this event to others. #blackhistorymonth #blackgala #ttc #ttccommunity #femaledj #djhoneyflow

The ancestors were joy-filled, smiling with us on February 3rd.
We were all reminded as a collective community that if we want to go far and further, then we must channel our inner "Astro-Sankofa" - that limitless & boundless ancestral African intelligence. But moreso, the arts is but a portal to the answers we seek as well as a reminder of the path we have walked and a guide to many destinations we can arrive at.

To which we say, major congrats to the 7 Afronauts of this 3peat partnership with the Toronto Transit Commission (@takethettc ) the launch was an epic movie and the rest of the month will be filled with community activations from community tours to school visits.

To learn more on how you can get involved, contact us at Info@astrosankofa.org

We also want to remind folks to join the artist talk on February 7th and check out the 6 TTC murals across the city at Victoria Park 🚉 Sherbourne 🚉 Wellesley 🚉 Bathurst 🚉 Dufferin 🚉 Jane 🚉.
