Our last competition before World Championships in Guthrie, Ok.
Ginger ran her heart out and I did my best to put all our practice into action. The next few weeks will be spent cleaning up our mistakes to put out an even better performance. 💪🏻

🔥 ABBY BOLLHOEFER | PURE GRIT, WESTERN SOUL 🤠🐎

Some riders chase the clock. Others make every second count.

Abby Bollhoefer hits the arena with determination, sharp reflexes, and the kind of focus that sets her apart. Through every turn, every target, and every cloud of dust, she brings a combination of skill, courage, and pure passion for the sport.

Shoot my first clean pattern in my second ever @officialcmsa competition!! I started Mounted Shooting just 2 months ago and couldn’t have done it without the most amazing horse, Big Sexy, & Charlie and Amy at Lost Creek Ranch! Can’t wait to practice more, get faster, shoot cleaner and continue to compete in the this awesome sport with the best shooting family!! Next is @chris44_r 🤠 baby, time to get you out here! #cowboymountedshooting

Crushing cans. Course #99
•
This course is all about 1/23. Here are your options:
•
Options 1: check up before 1-2, THEN turn and reach for 3, staying below rundown cluster.
•
Option 2: no check for 1-2 just send it, but then 3 will be a bit closer and you take slightly longer route above the rundown cluster (as shown).
•
It was windy, and I tried this both ways. I’ve also attempted to not check and reach, which can work and is Option 3. Just very quick and need a horse that responds to your sit well.

Or getting slapped in the face by a stray balloon piece...

but you can experience the black powdering baptism from the back of the horse or the comfort of your own seat along the edge of the arena (the very close edge of the arena!)

So to answer your question, NO we do not shoot lethal ammunition. It is a black powder blank that send fiery embers to pop the balloon! #cmsa #cowboymountedshooting

Course 68: Highly debated.
•
That first turn is where all the time exists. People will debate over skipping that first shot or engaging it first.
•
I skip, and here’s why. This course relies ENTIRELY on the turn. Your focus is on the turn, not on the shots. I’m focused on setting a good turn and THEN engaging the target. So I wait, set a nice turn, and then pick up 🎈 as I go past it. Let me know how you do it:
