POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A week ago we were finishing up breakfast on the final day of the Summer Social 2026. Exhausted but happy. It was a brilliant four days, with a group of over 100 trail and adventure motorcycle riders coming together just to camp, chat, eat and drink.

For me, it was the culmination of a years worth of work, that went from blind optimistic enthusiasm, to a cold realisation of ‘what have I committed to…’ to ‘we have three months left and a lot to do’ to ‘it’s a few weeks away and we won’t be ready’ to ‘let’s go!’

I’ve had a week to reflect, consider, sleep and get back to normal life, including a look ahead to 2027, getting a few dates in the diaries of suppliers and writing down anything that worked (or didn’t) and any improvements to make.
Those lists will continue to grow and I’m hoping the planning and execution for 2027 will have fewer uncertainties and we will be ready. Thanks also to those who have already stepped up and offered support and to volunteer for the 2027 event.

I had spoken with some of the attendees about plans for 2027. The event worked for 35 in 2025, and also for 105 in 2026. Based on this year’s experience, I think it will scale to 200, but that is the limit for next year. I had previously talked about an upper limit of 400 in the future, but for 2027, I’d rather sell out for 200, and have that to plan for than aim higher and risk losing the ‘friends of friends and their friends’ experience that has made it what it is.

Thanks to the 66 people who have signed up in the first 48 hours of the 2027 registration being available. If I had any doubts about how this year went, that is an indication that we have done something worthwhile.

Thanks again to @jasonkeffert for these amazing photos. For anyone who’s heard about it, or maybe seen the incredible @topboy_jonny video of the event, if this looks like your sort of thing, maybe we’ll see you next year.

That was a long day. Special thanks to the volunteers in whose debt I now am. One more tent, a bit more bar and the stage to wire up.

See you tomorrow?

Fish & Midlife @abrfestival . This first photo has to be my favourite, taken courtesy of @richyvida. He seems to think Fish is saying ‘she’s at it again’! Lots of giggles had.
Always lovely to see the ever calm and amazing @sammanicom.author. What a legend.

There is no right or wrong way to celebrate ABR. For me, it was all about meeting great people and share a story with a pint of beer or a glass of water with electrolytes...It was so bloody hot 🥵. I wish, I took pictures with all the people I met, you made my ABR2026 so special. Surely, Africa was lonely while guarding a tent and got a puncture. #abr #goodtimes #leatt

ABR Fest 2026 - you didn’t disappoint!
Such an amazing event from Alun Davies, Becky Brown, Will Sandilands, Charlie Oakman and the entire @abrfestival team.

My last ever event working for @motogb_motorcycles_scooters was a hot one. The sheer amount of bikes they prepared and brought to the festival was incredible. Loads of media rides undertaken, new contacts made and great to catch up with some old (sunburned and dusty) faces!

My highlights:
Having most of my family onsite

The smile on @mfenners15 Mark Fenwick’s face when he got a bullseye to win a Beeline.

@edbeeline for being an exceptional human and good sport.

Riding the Bridgestone Trail with Simon Hancocks (top work @challismoto on keeping them as safe as possible).

Getting the chance to test the @two_wheels_for_life Yamaha AG200 thanks to Jennifer Smith

Those beautiful humans at @roadskinuk for helping me wind up my wife and their awesome products

@mathew_hall46 Mathew Hall & @shoeihelmetsuk for cold drinks and top chats

Anyway, an event where there are so many good memories to come out of it!
