POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I wrote this after coming back from exchange transitioning into my normal routine. It’s been exactly one year ago since I was living in The Netherlands which is so crazy…

I found a version of myself that noticed the small things again, the way light spills differently in each city, how silence feels less heavy when you’re surrounded by strangers, how awe can be its own kind of love.

I found out that romance doesn’t always arrive in the form of a person, it can live in postcards, in sunsets, in the quiet courage of being alone in a foreign place.

Writing this was poem was so sweet, i remember the highlight of my week would be when the scholastic book fair was on or when i had enough change in my lunch order to go buy icy block at the canteen.

Ancient Feelings by @thomasjprice__
One of my favourite interviews I’ve ever done — it reshaped how I think about public art and who gets to be remembered and seen in public memory and history.

INSIDE WORM (@worm_rotterdam )
I had such an amazing conversation with Nia Konstantinova, Senior MarCom at WORM. In rebellion against AI, algorithms, and digital bubbles, people are seeking more tactile and human ways to connect - and WORM has pioneered a space for exactly that.

How to be Preserved

This work reflects on what it means to make yourself desirable — to be chosen, kept, remembered. I was thinking about how fruit gets waxed to look fresh, even as it quietly spoils underneath. That performance of being soft, available, and beautiful.

The couch becomes a stage.
The skin becomes a shell.
To be touched is not always to be seen.

“To remember” is about waiting.
“To reveal” is the act of offering yourself.
“To return” is reclaiming what’s left of you.

Sometimes we get so focused on being picked, we forget we’re decaying in the process

During my time as a university student of International Studies in Australia, it was unfortunate that there was a significant absence of strengths-based units in the field of African Studies. As Africa is geographically far from Australia, its strategic importance to Australia has been often overlooked. I am delighted to see initiatives like the 100 African Books Project, a collaboration between @ayicentresydney & @blacktowncitylibraries, to ensure African voices and stories are represented and shared in public spaces.

More books can be added to the collection at Blacktown City Library upon request, which ensures this project continues to live on and expand.

An essential part of ensuring inclusion of African perspectives is strengths-based requires drawing upon the expertise of Africans. I am currently enjoying the book “African Spirituality: Forms, Meanings and Expressions”, edited by Prof. Jacob K. Olupona. Prof. Olupona is a Nigerian-born Professor specialising in African Religious Traditions @harvarddivinity. It is excellent to engage with works that engage with the Continent on its own terms.

Overall, a fantastic experience that also included learning about traditional African writing forms, thanks to the enlivening facilitation by renowned Sydney-based, Ghanaian-born artist @emmanuel.asante.art. You can see a glimpse of his beautiful work at the end.

📷: a special thank you to my new friend and amazing writer @offlinewonder for your help with filming ✨.
