What an incredible first night. 🖤

Thank you to everyone who came out, danced with us, and made the first 14th Door so special. A huge thank you to @niki.bakhtiyar and @findingmesme for their beautiful selections and for setting the tone throughout the night.

Taking us deeper into the night: Mesmé.

Born in Iran, raised in Singapore, and now based in Los Angeles, Mesmé is a DJ, producer, and devoted record collector known for her atmospheric, vinyl-heavy selections. With a seven-year residency at LA warehouse institution Into The Woods, four years broadcasting on dublab, and a residency at Brooklyn’s Public Records, she has established herself as a trusted selector with a deep appreciation for music beyond conventional boundaries.

Her sets move fluidly through deep house, techno, electro, trip-hop, jazz, and experimental sounds, guided by a meticulous sense of narrative. Blending unexpected tempos, evocative vocal layers, and textured grooves, she brings an understated elegance to the dance floor, making even the most unfamiliar records feel accessible.

For the first 14th Door, Mesmé brings her distinct approach to selection and storytelling, taking us through an immersive journey of rhythm and atmosphere.

Closing the night: Mehran, founder of 14th Door.

Raised in Iran and based in Los Angeles, Mehran has spent the past seven years developing his sound behind the decks, in the studio, and through hosting his own parties. As the founder of 14th Door and co-founder of Püre Musica, his approach extends beyond selecting records to creating spaces where people can connect through music.

His sets unfold through hypnotic repetition, rolling percussion, vocal fragments, and subtle shifts in tension. Spacious passages give way to driving grooves, leaving room for the mind to wander without losing connection to the dance floor. His productions follow the same approach, built around tight percussion, low-end movement, and restrained melodic details.

For the first 14th Door, Mehran takes the closing set, bringing the night into its deepest and most driving hours.

Opening the night: NIQI, making her Los Angeles debut.

An Iranian musician and DJ rooted in Boston’s underground techno scene and now based in LA, NIQI moves between the hypnotic, raw, and atmospheric sides of techno.

A Berklee College of Music graduate and resident at @infraboston, she has shared lineups with Freddy K, Kangding Ray, Alarico, and Ø [Phase]. Her background in instrumental performance and game audio brings a musician’s ear and a sound designer’s attention to detail behind the decks.
We’re excited to have her set the tone for our first night. Come early, settle into the room, and help us give NIQI a proper LA welcome.

Steeped in Sound returns for its second installment on Thursday 5/28 - an intimate evening of sound, ritual, and slow discovery.

This edition centers around the raw, emotive pull of live blues guitar, as @borakmusik opens the evening with a stripped-back set designed to ground and draw you inward. Paired with a thoughtfully prepared tea service.

As the evening evolves, @djivy takes over the Hi-Fi Listening Room, guiding the energy forward with a warm, textured musical journey. Expect sounds that lean soulful, rhythmic, and transportive.

Tea and craft cocktails will be available throughout the night - offering moments to sip, pause, and reconnect as the soundscape unfolds.
