We acknowledge that we live and work on the unceded, traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples, whose ancestors have lived here and cared for these lands and waters since time immemorial. This acknowledgement does not take the place of authentic relationships with Indigenous communities, but serves as a first step in honoring the land we are on. Today, we celebrate and honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The Duwamish nation and Chinook nation are currently fighting for federal recognition. Friends, I have 2 big FREE events coming up at UW Seattle & UW Bothell: Spot Reservation: Permit Yourself to Laugh—Swinomish artist Daniel R. Smith to transform a UW parking garage into Indigenous celebratory “occupation,” costume party, and environmental protest What: A free interactive public art project, open to all, Native and non-Native alike When: Oct. 30th, 11am–3pm Where: University of Washington Seattle, Padelford Parking Garage Lot N21 https://tinyurl.com/SpotRezOct30 Spot Reservation features free, costumed photo portraits in a tiny forest (aka "nanoforest") installed in the depths of the Padelford Parking Garage, Level N21, on the east side of campus. Iranian photographer Saina Heshmati, co-founder of Antipode Gallery, will capture and distribute portraits of participants. Costume elements, including “wearable taxidermy” will be provided, but the public is also encouraged to come in costume. Joe Seymour (Squaxin/Pueblo Acoma) will emcee and host an open mic for singing, drumming, and reading, including an appearance by poet Mateo Quispe (Red River Métis/Little Shell Chippewa). Seattle’s Off the Rez food truck will provide free fry bread tacos while supplies last. The Falconer will demonstrate live birds of prey and offer opportunities to hold birds. Tessa Rose Campbell (Tulalip/Tlingit), aka “Aunty Cedar Log Lady,” a Lynchian character, will be a wandering channeler of the forest Spot Reservation is a Visiting Artist Residency, part of Not Apart: Indigenous Knowledges and the Art of University-Community Repair, a collaboration between the Simpson Center for the Humanities, the Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies; the Department of American Indian Studies; the Department of Comparative History of Ideas; UW Bothell’s School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences. The best food finds aren’t always at the most talked-about restaurants. Sometimes, they’re rolling through town. 🚚 From buttery lobster rolls in New England and Indigenous cuisine in Seattle to Swedish candy in Utah and deep-fried cheese curds in Wisconsin, these food trucks serve up memorable eats worth seeking out. You might even discover the next big name in food along the way. *Find 10 food trucks worth seeking out at the link in bio. 🌭

Only 5 markets left, and tonight is a very good night to come hungry. Tonight’s dinner lineup brings some incredible food to Duvall: Native food from Off the Rez, Laos and Hmong food from Rice Water, and Southern comfort food with a Korean flair from Soul 2 Seoul, who is bringing fried chicken baskets for the first time! Your support helps us keep bringing unique and diverse food options like these to Duvall. Come hungry and show them some love! 💚 🗓 Tonight, September 10 | 3–7 PM 📍 Taylor Landing Park

Here’s Part 2 of tomorrow’s lineup. 👀 We have even more vendors to share, including Marley’s Bakery by Renee bringing back pumpkin loaves for the first time this season. And if you’re figuring out dinner plans, tomorrow is a particularly good week to let the market handle them. Off the Rez is making their surprise return, Rice Water is back after a few weeks away, and Soul 2 Seoul is bringing fried chicken baskets for the first time. We’d love to see a busy Taylor Landing tomorrow. Come shop local, grab dinner, bring the family and help us make these last few weeks of the season strong! 🗓 Thursday, September 10 | 3–7 PM 📍 Taylor Landing

some of my favorite tacos are these Native American fry bread tacos from @offtherez located inside @burkemuseum 🌮 Off The Rez is Seattle’s first Native-owned cafe, serving handmade dishes rooted in Native Indigenous food traditions. The fry bread is SO fluffy, and every bite is packed with flavor 🤤 📌SAVE and SHARE with someone you want to try these with ‼️FOLLOW @priyas_plates for more recommendations
