On 27th March, I posted a video saying I was doing an R&B event on 5th April. I’d actually recorded the videos ten days earlier, but sat on them in deep contemplation and when I finally posted, I had no venue, no team. Just a plan and a determination to not embarrass the Ikuru family name.

But somehow, every one of you came along for the ride. And then even more of you showed up on the day for @soulandspicey

I don’t take that for granted, and I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to say a proper thank you.

So — thank you. To everyone who showed up, who invited their friends, who came early and stayed late. To the DJs. To @nelson_chima for the @djnellycool plug. To @pucciszn and @awajiroijaan for swinging in with the @howlerzofficial pop-up. To @__elisha_ and his beau @peaceogor for coming through with the amazing decorations. To @_andrella_ and @thebusinesshq for handling check-ins. To my cousin who came through on short notice to sort the wrist tags. To @ms_jaja02 and @tobii.speaks for patiently answering all my questions, and to @joanellaadoki for showing me how to record the videos in the first place. To my big brothers for pulling up to see what their baby brother had cooked up. To Mr. L at @welovedutch for being such a gracious host. To my sister @foosrehub for capturing the clips. To @dooski_a, my manager, for making sure everything looked right.

Of course to @msabiye and @les_halliday my brother’s neighbors. Thank youuu so much. My chairman at LPS @dabonotiveone mucha gracias.

To @bomzyfibbs for helping me hold things down on the day, and @nonsoiwuh for the bat signal. And to everyone who gave me feedback, constructive or otherwise — you all shaped what that day became.

We go again in June. For the culture.

Muchas gracias . Can’t wait to hang out with you again. See you soon. 🤎
