SO… I did a thing. With a clear mind, body and spirit and just about seven months of complete sobriety, after much research & clear minded contemplation, I have taken steps and have begun moving myself & the entire Funky Element Productions & Recordings operation to Bushwick, Brooklyn. Here WE will be in the heart of the city and WE will be further inspired to cultivate & sculpt the most authentic, hottest “Brooklyn House” beats on the planet. I’ll say it once again… That was just the beginning. Im just gettin’ warmed up & It has only just begun. Moving forward we have a packed release schedule coming at you with new music, new collabs, original productions & remixes from artists all over the globe. Stay tuned for upcoming events with platinum production synonymous with the name Funky Element. Be on the look out for the expansion of Funky Element studios offering an array of audio engineering services soon to be available to the public and a host of additional options & services coming soon. I don’t wanna say too much, those who know me, know I’ve always been about actions, which speak volumes louder than words. Coming on 25 years later I’m about actions, don’t talk about it… Be about it. More will be revealed stay tuned & please watch this space for updates. As for me, I’m continuing to take it one day at a time, stay healthy, focused, work as hard as possible, bring you the best music I can possibly make & remember to be the best version of my self, one day at a time, in all aspects & stay grateful. As always, do the next right thing for you now, continue to love your self & each other & continue to dance like no one’s watching. I’m wishing you the best & the utmost respect! Love

*** 6 Months Clean & Sober Alert ***

I’m very grateful & blessed to announce that I have 6 months & 4 days clean & sober. To me this is a dream come true. Not since I was 24 years old when I had multiple years have I had this much consistent time , real talk. For a long time I just l couldn’t get clean. I found my self with periods of abstinence but then I would go back to getting high. I needed to change my entire life basically & me in order to be able to get rid of my addiction on a daily basis . I had to change A Lot of people places & things. this was not easy. I still love my old friends from 20 years ago with all my heart. It’s the people & areas I had Absolutely NO business being around, these were most importantly what I needed to shut down.

Moving forward I’ll continue to take it one day at a time and do the next right thing. I keep my health & my sobriety upfront & first things first because with out that I have nothing.

I’m sitting on a plethora of new music I’m ready to play for you. All new original tracks, remixes & collaborations out on various labels that will make you shake ya feet & move dat ass. These are crazy times & no matter what I’ll be staying clean & healthy & focused on music as my life & my passion.

Thank You guys for the years of friendship & the tremendous amounts of support I’ve gotten over the last 6 months. It really helps me & If I can ever be of any assistance just lmk. What I can’t do alone, WE can do together. Thanks again!

** I Got The New Day Job **

I’m proud & grateful to say that today marks 164 days clean & sober and also was my first day working again for @skanskausa via @laborerslocal731 . I got the new day job & I’m very excited. I’m convinced that my current employment is 💯 based on my sobriety & doing the next right thing. Good things happen to good people, I’m blessed. I’ve worked for this company many times in the past and it’s always been an absolute pleasure. I’ve built tunnels for the @mta as my day job since roughly 2007 and i have always loved the underground… literally 🔥. I’ll continue to be working hard, staying sober, making the best music I can possibly make, keeping it underground as always & making it happen one day at a time. I’ll see you guys real soon. As always wishing you the best, much love & respect! #BrianAtwood #Dank #Local731 #Local147 #Skanska #UltraMusic #Insomniac #FunkyElement #Revealed #Autektone #164Daysober #BrooklynHouse #RespectTheUnderground #Laborer #Sandhogs #Producer #DJ #ReMixer

*** All my family & friends, a short story…

When I was 18 years old, circa 2000 my best friend at the time was an older cat by the name of @alansax808 , he was like my older brother. I used to drive into Brooklyn every day to chill with him & make & talk music. He taught me what to do & what not to do, as well as the in’s & out’s of DJing, event promoting and overall NYC nightlife based on his vast experience since roughly 1991. We threw big events , Went down to music conference in Miami , DJ’d & everything in btwn. I remember it like it was yesterday & I’ll forever be grateful to him. I have no doubt my career wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for Sax, real talk. Thank You Alan

One day, Sax brought me to a warehouse loft after hours in Williamsburg, BK, where I believe @dannytenagliaofficial played for hours, it wasn’t Vinyl. However I remember it was really good house music, it was an amazing vibe and it was thrown by a crew called @718sessions the year was 2002, I was roughly 20 years old.

It’s my absolute pleasure to invite all of you, who I consider my friends and family, Saturday July 26, 2025… Over 20 years later to another event thrown by that same veteran crew. Trust, these guys know what they ‘re doing I experienced it first hand then & now & I’m all in, I’m thoroughly impressed, I don’t do this often, I’m not even playing, however u wanna have a good time? Go to this event, it’s where I go to dance. I’ll c u there! #BrianAtwood #Dank #718Sessions #DannyKrivit #BennySoto

This is …
“G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S” & this is what 128 days 💯 clean & sober looks like. I used to be loyal to the wrong things, I was loyal to everything that was destroying myself… Now I’m loyal to discipline… I’m loyal to financing… I’m loyal to saving my money… I’m loyal to waking up early and working out… Im loyal to waking up at 6 in the morning going all the way till’ 3AM going to sleep for three hours, waking up, then doing it again… I got loyal to consistency… I put my loyalty in to that.

One day at a time I wake up think of what worked for the last day and then I do it again, if I’m really really cute I try to add something to my mix daily. It’s just for today I keep it in the day cause that’s all I got. I stay grateful for all the blessings in my life including being alive cause real talk I almost wasn’t here. I came real close to not being here so I keep that up front and remember that life is a gift first things first. My health comes # 1, my music and everything else # 2 facts.

If you came close to death and or had a life changing experience whether it be a family member passing, hitting rock bottom, or over coming an obstacle that you didn’t think you would over come, know that your a Hero. Please write “AMEN” in the comments & if you want tell me about your experience and how you overcame it so I know what time it is, and you share your experience, strength hope with me and others. Wishing you all the best, much love & respect. #DANK 🔥❤️

103 days clean today, feels really good. I’m grateful I don’t have to wake up hung over anymore. Most of all I’m grateful I can look my self in the mirror today & know I’m a good person. I have respect for my self & for others. I don’t lie, cheat, steal or manipulate, to me it’s about attitudes & behaviors. It’s about being a good person even when no one’s watching. Life takes care of people on its own & good things happen to good people FACTS, REAL TALK.

SO…. I started Funky Element Productions LTD in 2001 throwing large & small electronic dance music events in the NYC & surrounding areas. In 2011 I had the opportunity to start Funky Element Records. Most recently after a strategic break to focus on health & life I’m grateful to announce WE because it’s not a me thing it’s a WE thing, it takes a team to do this stuff, so after a long strategic break, it is my pleasure to announce that WE have just signed a full distribution contract with one of the largest independent distributors of dance music in North America. After 76 releases of artists from over 30 different countries all over the globe, with multiple # 1 & top 10 breaking tracks, Funky Element Records, USA will be moving forward with releases scheduled for 2025 and beyond.

We are grateful for our new partners & we look forward to this new beginning & new global venture with all of you. We look forward to filling the airwaves with the new music ASAP. Stay tuned & Watch this space ! Full website & more info to come. It was, is & will always continue to be… All about the music! #FunkyElement #Dank 🔥❤️
