❤️‍🩹 Healing Update

It’s been a little over a month into herniated disc adventures and I’m happy to report that I’m significantly more upright and moving around! I graduated from a walker to a four-legged cane to this pimpin Biggie cane.

I’m surprising myself with how much more mobility I gain every day. The pain and discomfort are still constant, but they’ve started to become background noise as opposed to my life’s soundtrack. I am in endless awe of the body’s ability to heal itself.

Catching COVID on top of everything threw me into few dark weeks of the soul. My inability to find a comfortable resting position kept me from doing creative things that regulate me like cooking, playing the piano, and even reading.

Opiods were making my brain mushy and steroids were making me anxious and stressed. I spent my restless isolation voice-to-text-ing a bunch of lowkey highkey depressing journal entries into my notes app and had myself a little emo boi summer’s end.

Now that I’m through those woods and working on weaning off some of the harder meds, my nervous system is regulating and I’m finally starting to think clearly.

Spending a lot less time at the pharmacy and a lot more at the dispensary and the natural food and vitamin store like a true denizen of Ashland.

When the brain fog lifted I was able to get back into my daily disciplines including music, writing, and exercise. I try to consistenly go on progressively longer walks.

I’ve really been on my Uncle Iroh shit with my PT.
Haven’t skipped a single day and I’m never going a morning without mobility and core strengthening ever again.

I’m learning the guitar for my next show! For a while it was my only musical outlet other than singing cuz
I could play it lying down.

As a pianoman I’ve always been kinda intimidated by strings I can see, but I was pleasantly surprised by how intuitive it’s been. I’m doing everything I can to make sure my chops and my bod are ready to rock for my holiday season contract. More on that soon.

A couple weeks ago when Dolly and Tim passed, I was finally able to sit without significant discomfort and I played the piano for the first time, weeping my way through I Will Alwa
