feels SO good to be back home in the desert 🏜️

needed this trip so badly. ever since my accident in September last year, things have been off. when you get into an accident with your van, it’s a whole new level. you lose your home, your car, your office, your safe space- all at once

with the holidays and other things, it took me five whole months to get her back. I got her back end of January, right when I got back from Japan, peak ski season. winter van life is a different beast. it’s not the same as summer van life. no running water, no lounging outside, more confined to cities and parking lots. not exactly the easiest time to get back into things. not to mention how awful this ski season was- but that’s for a different rant

so I spent a lot more time in salt lake. spent a lot more time with Ross. with friends. relaxing and taking it easier on myself for a few months. both mentally and physically I needed that. I needed a break, I needed a reset. I needed to work on slowly getting back to myself. did a lot of yoga. walking. got a road bike

at the end of every ski season, I like to head to the desert. get some sun. party, float, reset, rest. end of April I pack up the van and head from SLC to Moab for the month of May. it’s becoming one of my favorite traditions. I need this each year

but this year it’s extra special. this feels like my first *real* trip back in the van since the accident. where I can park out in the middle of nowhere with no one around. have my windows open listening to the sounds of the desert or the river. cook with my doors open and a view. end my work day with a hike

I have so missed this. I have so needed this. we are so back, baby 🚐🤍

my fourth tour de @ikonpass is officially in the books and boy did we cover some ground this go around 🚐💨

for what this season was, I think I did a pretty darn good job making the most of it. traded in dry January for Japanuary and then upon returning to the states, drove north. then kept on driving north.

Japan > Salt Lake > Jackson > Big Sky > Schweitzer > Red > Silverstar > Revelstoke > Banff > Lake Louise > Alyeska

best part is that I was surrounded with great company every stop along the way. so shoutout to both the new and old ski homies I rode with this season. hope to share many more turns in seasons to come 🫶🏻
