Meet Hannah Shute, a proud graduate of the UNF School of Music Class of 2020! 🎶

Since graduating, Hannah earned her master’s degree in Cello Performance from Arizona State University, studying under Professor Tom Landschoot. Now based in Phoenix, Arizona, she maintains a private studio of 30 students and performs as a freelancer, studio musician, Candlelight musician, and member of the West Valley Symphony. She also teaches group classes and masterclasses at cello workshops, including Cellobration and the Arizona Suzuki Association’s Annual Suzuki Workshop.

Hannah extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Curry, Professor Friedlander, Dr. Bennett, Dr. Venet, Dr. Gosden, and Professor Taylor for their lasting impact on her musical journey.

Her advice to current and prospective students? Music offers many career paths, from performance and teaching to other fields. Follow your passion, find your niche, and embrace the many roles a music career can offer!

The UNF School of Music is proud of all you’ve accomplished, Hannah, and can’t wait to see what’s next! 💙🎻

🎵 Are you a UNF School of Music alum? We’d love to celebrate your story! Send updates to schoolofmusic@unf.edu for a chance to be featured in a future Alumni Spotlight.

I set this recording up for a school assignment and ended up creating the parts for this particular arrangement the night before. These remarkable musicians were able to sight read it and record it crazy quick! Shoutout to @ohhh.shute for making this happen!

The Firebird Quartet:
Paula Lastra-Cancela - violin
Zeyu Chen - violin
Nicole Allen - viola
Hannah Shute - cello 🎻
