What is DJD1?
.
.
In short: it can be caused by genetics or be injury based. Is it a red flag? Not entirely. If issues are popping up and the breeder is ignoring it, yes, it’s a red flag. If there are no issues, you’re fine. I’ve seen many dogs with DJD1 never produce DJD1 related elbows, and I’ve seen the opposite as well. A good breeder gets to the bottom of the root cause and prevents issues from arising if there is cause for concern (such as listed). Otherwise, DJD1 on its own is not a serious concern.

↳ Gannicus finished the weekend with Winners Dog for a 4pt Major for his first points in AKC towards his championship. He was seriously considered on Saturday with a run-off between two other males, but ended up not being chosen for anything. Crixus finished his Rally Advanced title with a 95/100. Crixus was only entered Friday and Gannicus only competed in breed. Gannicus also had his hips and elbows done and it’ll be about 4 weeks until the results come in 👀. It was nice, but boring only competing in one thing— outside Friday 😫🤣. Here’s a photo from last year’s tulip festival since I haven’t gotten any new ones of the boys together this year yet. How was your weekend?
