Altadena Cars & Coffee
One Year Anniversary!

This weekend we celebrated you, Altadena!
We celebrated all the folks that have ever stopped by this little lot near the top of Lake. You came and you talked -
Talked To Dave, to me, to new friends, an old neighbor, council members, judges, attorneys, construction workers, quite literally anyone from any walk of life - you came up here and you all made history.

There’s those that have been die-hard AC&C folk and you continued to come, week after week. You drove up there because you know what you’d get when you got there.
Firm handshakes, bro hugs, nods, waves, and the occasional dap up 🤝
A history lesson from Bob, a banana from Ken, a smile and hug from Danny, and the endless stories of resilience from all of you.

This refreshingly organic meet up didn’t happen by accident. The brain child of @not_ev_altadena to gather Eaton Fire Survivors to meet up after starting to interview them.
That first meet up was a year ago and every weekend since Dave and Company have delivered such a beautiful concept for helping other Eaton Fire survivors cope, bond, reflect, admire, and all while helping neighbors get their cars back, helping local business get bodies through the doors, our local coffee in their system, overall helping revitalize Altadena.

I thank you all for always welcoming me, my family, my neighbors and friends. We all have somewhere we can go to see some smiling faces, funny cars, and be in great company.

This Saturday will mark a moment in history for Altadena, its residents,and beyond.

When I set out to document The Eaton Fire I was led by a voice in my head that told me to talk less and do more, to do for others as I wish they would do for me, to bring love and compassion to my neighbors. Shortly after I began that same voice asked me to gather a small group of people to meet each other so they could talk about their shared experience.

I’ll be forever grateful to Alan and Arthur from @unincorporatedcoffee for letting us pull up to their spot. They were there for the Altadena in the most real way possible. Thank you gents, you are legend.

The first Saturday, which I never promoted, about 30 or so folks arrived. About 20 minutes into the event @driven.by.passion_steve while talking to @maxwelltmay and @nocturnalcitrus turned and asked me if we were going to do this event every week. I told him I was waiting for the them to let me know if they wanted that, Steve said they did. That was the birth of @altadenacarsandcoffee.

After a handful of weeks we outgrew the location. This was a beautiful yet heartbreaking moment for me. I hated to leave @unincorporatedcoffee but knew we needed a bigger lot. I reached out to Leo at @bulgarinigelato to see if he would host us in the large lot where his restaurant is. Leo had lost his home, his 1937 Ford and understood car people and community. We moved over and after a few shaky weeks we found our footing.

Over the past year we raised money and were able to buy @drobinson2389 Corvette, @madhippoworks Datsun, @hyewestsaloon horns for his Caddy, @maxwelltmay cash to help him rebuild his truck and more. Thank you to everyone who had helped in these efforts.

I have never done anything like this and everyday I learn a little more. My biggest takeaways after a year are…keep showing up, talk less about what’s wrong with the world and instead do for others to be the change you want to see, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, lead with your heart, and to Love Everyone.

On March 7th, please come celebrate a year of community, of hard work and love with me. I love you Altadena. I love your dream.
