@ois.ink - “Séance”

We found a dusty Ouija board marked with strange symbols in our basement. The symbols aren’t of this world, yet the instructions are clear: there is an entity waiting on the other side. The other side of what? We follow the instructions and place our hands upon the planchette. The board shifts as we ask for the entity’s name.

O... I... S...

Or at least, that’s what we think it’s trying to spell.

The planchette slips away from the letters and moves toward the numerals. It stops on 6.

We try again.
6.
and again...
6.

We suddenly hear a voice rising from beneath the subfloor:

“Hello mortals ... the séance is now complete.”

~

What better way to kick off spooky season than a “Séance” with Ois! and Black Magic Recordings? “Séance” starts with a propulsive and elastic bassline gliding over a shuffling 4x4 beat. Sharp vocal samples stick in your brain through clever use of pitch bending and intricate layering. “Séance” is undeniably soulful and guaranteed to ignite the magical flavor of group revelry that comes with the best parties

The “Séance” ends in six days — be sure to contact the dead before the dead contacts you!

Hey everyone!

We’re into 6s, so naturally 6/6 has become a holiday for us at BMR! To celebrate the 3rd BMR Day, our subscription is $6.66 for the next 24 hours! We recently updated our Bandcamp annual subscription so that it includes our ENTIRE back catalog AND each monthly release over the next year.

https://blackmagicrecs.bandcamp.com/sell-your-soul-now

To make things even more diabolical, we’ll send a free BMR t-shirt to the 6th person who sells their soul today! Feed your inner demon:

We celebrated 3 years of BMR in May and what we’ve accomplished thanks to our community of artists is surreal! We started BMR out of our wholehearted love of music and sincere desire to do right by artists and the music they trust us with releasing. That will forever be our intent. Thank you for listening and supporting the music we release on Bandcamp.

Have a righteous Black Magic Day!

Last month’s tracklist

Mostly garage and breaks this time

Recorded in the midst of moving flat so had to draw for a fair few older tracks in the library. Still some really nice fresh bits in here though - the @nuagepage and @bailemusic track is a stunner

@ois.ink - Me No Es Cubano

huh? wat... Not again 😦

It’s only been 2 weeks since his BMRMIX entry and now we’re stoked to release the debut BMR single from @ois.ink entitled “Me No Es Cubano.” Right from the jump, Ois!’s distinctive syncopated percussion will lock you in and his expertly chopped quasi-verbal vocal samples will keep this one on replay for a long time to come. Admittedly, we’re used to speaking in tongues here at BMR, so the vocals in “Me No Es Cubano” help us feel right at home considering they almost form their own language. Each new musical layer adds to the story as Ois! takes us on a journey through hazy memories of a night out.

We’ve heard that memories begin to fade after 6 days, so be sure to support Ois!’s “Me No Es Cubano” and the bonus track he’s bundled with the single before these sweet sounds are a distant memory.
