NEWCASTLE! You did it AGAIN!! 🖤✨

What a week! From the Mercury Fringe to an incredible night at the Mercury Prize Awards, it was such a joy to be back in Newcastle for the second year of the Prize at the Utilita Arena.

Huge thanks to @generatorhq for inviting me to moderate The Pivot panel as part of the Generator LIVE conference, exploring the power of reinvention, navigating change and carving out new pathways in the creative industries. Such a brilliant conversation with a fantastic group of panellists! Great to see the conference growing and diversifying year on year! The Generator team did a phenomenal job from start to finish!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 special S/O to @adam_macca_ @theavandervelde @chyarohylton for taking on some of my crazy ideas and bearing with me! 😜🤪🤩

And thank you @micky_ross & @davefhaley for having me as a guest at the Mercury Prize too. What an electric night @arenanewcastle ! ✨✨✨✨✨

Big congratulations to all the nominees and to the phenomenal @raye on her outstanding win and extraordinary body of work! Giving us a masterclass in self belief, tenacity and resilience against all odds! And of course BRILLIANT music👏🏾✨

As always, one of the highlights was reconnecting with familiar faces, making new friends and soaking up the energy of it all.

Newcastle, what a great experience! Loved being part of The Pivot Panel & having the opportunity to reflect on my journey in the industry, including my early days as Wale’s assistant stylist back in ’98.

So special to look back on those moments, share some of the lessons along the way & connect with such an inspiring room of people.

What a special evening.

Today for me will always be remembered as LIBERATION DAY for my beloved Mother, Mildred Lucia Escoffery.. Lovingly known as Millie. The Matriach of our family, and Mother to many.. On this day July 4 2019, we sent her home, celebrated her life and presence, and her spirit was free of a pain filled body.
