UNAVSA-20 Leadership Conference

I don't think I could ever completely describe how much U-20 meant to me, but it was so much more than I ever thought it could be. It was smiling so much my face hurt, joy so strong you couldn't do anything but cry, and boundless amounts of kindness from people around every. single. corner! It was learning things about my heritage and myself that I never thought I would and growing in ways I didn't think I could.

There was this interconnectedness between everyone you met and it blew my mind a little just how many people could know one person. But more specifically, the emotion in people's voices when they greeted each other is what truly amazed me. It was community—a really, really big one—and I can only be thankful that I was so gently welcomed into it by such lovely, beautiful people.

At the end of all this, I think my only wish is that there continue to be days where I smile as brightly as I did atop the branches of the weeping willow and feel as deeply as I did under the fort made of blankets and chairs. If that's all I have in store for my future, I would say I'm doing pretty alright. 💜
