Finishing touches on the final wall at Elm Street are happening as we speak! This spectacular wrap of the 15,000+ square foot parking garage has shapes inspired by the motion of the city and a palette that responds to the autumn leaves and colors of New England.

Captain golden 🫡 @fo__estudio @boris0a @oka.je #ricky @newhorizonfinishes plus some of our BW fam volunteers… THANK YOU 💛

This crew has been onsite for weeks washing, priming, prepping, building tools, operating lifts and 🫟PAINTING 🫟 like crazy through cold, heat, traffic, construction, and some special birthday moments.

Now, with an impending nor’easter, the crew has been working double time to get our artists in a good place to finish strong when the weather turns 🌧️

Now let’s batten down the hatches on Elm and High Streets, team. Wishing everyone in the New England cities we serve safety and community through this upcoming challenging weather. 🙏

Beyond Walls 🤝 Nashua, NH. New project underway on two EPIC Parking Garages!

We are excited to announce that this week our team kicked off three large scale colorful and design forward installations in downtown Nashua, NH.

This work alongside city partners and three incredible artists… more on that soon… will transform the external facades of the Elm Street and High Street parking garages into vibrant civic landmarks that will reflect the city’s energy, movement and continued growth.

Our first artist to feature is @eltonolab who will be installing his colorful shapes on the facades of the Elm Street Garage.

Follow along here over the next two weeks as work continues and to meet all of our participating artists!

Youth Build!

This month I had the pleasure of being one of the keynote speakers at this year's Youth Build Advocacy Day at the State House, alongside my brother in service, @adamgomezma. Youth Build programs from across the Commonwealth came to advocate for more funding for youth, workforce, and alternative education options in our state. I am part of the young people, the importance of the work they are doing to lay the foundation for the rest of their lives, and the need to hear from them about the challenges they face as they navigate our system of education and employment. Our young people at YouthBuild North Shore made me especially proud of how they advocated for their budgetary priorities and I am reciprocating by advocating for funding for the program. As the 2025 Youth Build House Champion of the year, I am honored to be one of the biggest supporters of this incredible program that is transforming our state.

I was also thrilled to have the opportunity to visit @ybnorthshore as a guest speaker in @jeffcohen.directactionnetwork class alongside my brother @oka.je . We both got to share our stories of how we got to our chosen career fields of government and the arts. It was so special to get to spend this time with the future leaders of our Commonwealth, and to serve as a role model and advocate for them! #youthbuild

Who’s teaching who?

Grateful @oka.je & @repmannycruz joined me at Tuesday’s Future Success & Civic Engagement class at @ybnorthshore at @northshorecdc.

Miguel & Manny have been constant guests speakers since I started mentoring and, as always, they shared their journeys and how they didn’t let challenges deter them and offered insight about how to realize success, especially when circumstances present disadvantages. Their empathy and ability to uniquely motivate was especially timely as some of the participants were at the state house last week making their voices heard advocating for this outstanding program and heard Rep Cruz speak. In class, both Cruz’ talked about how their time at @leap4ed provided them tools similar to YB. Reliable sources let me know YB NS crushed it in interactions with legislators.

Every class, I start with an exercise that all (participants, staff, guests) have to do and yesterday’s was the first time I gave them all it in advance; a quote that means something; whether a song lyric, bible verse, from a poem, something they thought of, etc) and EVERYONE put thoughtful effort in, we all learned from each other. I started by talking about one of my heroes, Bill Russell, not just because of his extraordinary accomplishments on the court, but his work re social justice. His quote I used, “The most important measure of how good a game I played was how much better I’d made my teammates play. The most important thing to me is the friends I’ve made.” I judge myself by my friends and the success of those on my team and thanks to the Cruz brothers, the YB staff and especially the participants, yesterday was a really excellent day!!!!
