My first time out in the world as a publisher, and what better place to start than the Black British Book Festival 2025. 😌🙌🏾

From authors as young as ten to icons like Michael De Souza, creator of Rastamouse, I was in awe of the talent, creativity, and community in the room. The panel discussions with self-published authors were especially inspiring… full of honesty, insight, and encouragement for my own path as both author and publisher.

I also met some wonderful people who loved Kúnmi’s Busy Day! 💜

Hoping to return next year not just as an attendee, but as a participating author and publisher. Here’s to growth, storytelling, and shining more light through words. 🥂

Meet Kúnmi! ✨ From a simple pencil sketch to a vibrant, joyful character, every part of her design tells a story of heritage and heart.

Inspired by a real little girl discovering her Yoruba roots, Kúnmi’s look is a celebration of culture. Her purple Aṣọ Òkè, a traditional handwoven fabric, and her Gèlè (head-tie) are symbols of the rich history of the Yoruba people. Her bright eyes and warm smile reflect the joyful spirit of a child learning to embrace who she is.

Kúnmi represents every child on a journey to connect with their identity, family, and language. She’s a reminder that our roots are our strength, no matter where we grow.
