If you've never seen a croc eat a large meal before, this might look shocking. But what you're seeing isn't aggression, it's survival.

Unlike mammals, gators and crocs can't chew their food. Their teeth are built to grip, not slice. When prey is too large to swallow whole, they use powerful head shakes and the force of nearby objects (like the ground, logs, or even a wall) to tear off bite-sized pieces.

It may look brutal, but this is a behavior that's helped crocodilians survive for more than 80 million years.

While most alligators have dark brown or nearly black eyes, this beauty stands out with a gaze that's impossible to forget. She's the only alligator with naturally occurring blue eyes that we've seen (although Google says there are less than 20 worldwide). Either way, Topaz is a one-of-a-kind.
