In an age where almost anything can be made at the click of a button, there’s something captivating about watching someone make something by hand.

Take a peek behind the scenes as artist @okenak puts pen to paper for #BISCOCICHETI—line by line, detail by detail.

It’s the same spirit we’re bringing Upstairs this Thursday: two kitchens cooking together, wines poured by the people who picked them, vinyl on the decks, and plenty of human hands behind it all.

French techniques. Japanese soul. Italian traditions. Fish-like drinking. Disco in a bistro.

BISCO CICHETI
THU 10 SEP . UPSTAIRS . 128 TEMBELING RD
$98++ PER PERSON

Come 10 September, we welcome @bisco_sakaba UPSTAIRS for a night of dining, drinking and, dare we say, dancing—the three Ds that have put this little Orchard Plaza natural wine bistro firmly on the #iykyk radar.

𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 食べ物 🍽️🤤
We’re pitching one half of Bisco Sakaba, chef Kei (@n_bro) alongside our head chef JD (@jhiundick) for a communal menu that wanders happily between their worlds.

Oyster cream and aosa tucked into quiche. White fish shabu-shabu perfumed with smoked tomato and basil. A whole squid charred and stuffed with inky risotto. Aged duck spiced with smoked blackberries. Chestnut garganelli. Hojicha mousse.

French? Japanese? Italian? Call it what you will. As long as it's deeelicious.

𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 飲酒🍷🍶
Our own @ronaldkamiyama will be keeping you happy and hydrated, curating and pouring a pairing every bit as eclectic as the food: grapes plucked and perfected by Japanese hands, natural-leaning wines, ancient sake made using age-old methods, and other curious bottles he thinks you should be drinking.

𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚 ダンス 🕺🏻🪩
Back on the decks is Joo Chiat’s very own Black Cat Brother (@trustmrhas), who will be digging through his crates of rare grooves, disco, funk and world music on wax as dinner rolls on.

And because a night like this deserves something to remember it by, we’ve commissioned artist and friend of Bisco, Ken Kaneko (@okenak), to create a series of original illustrations inspired by the good food, strange wines and general shenanigans of #BISCOCICHETI.

You might even leave with a little piece of it 😗

Swipe 👈🏻 for the menu. Limited seats, plenty going on — book ahead at the link in bio.

Really thankful for everyone, friends and friends to be, who came by my lost and found counter this @illustrationartsfest 🙌💥 as well as the helpers @eat.cook.zumba & @placcidfenis I couldn't have done this without.

It makes all the work worth it when I see people enjoy the silly things I put into this world 🥹

It was also wonderful to meet new friends and old friends as well as illustrators I look up to and admire.

Also lucky to grab some overflow from the famous @eh_cruddy office next to mine 👀

Last but not least, big thanks to the organisers @thirtytwocm @mindflyer & designers @peculiarmatter 💪💪💪

Til next time!! I will be sharing a small pre-order for prints that sold out during the fair very soon 🙏✨
