I want to celebrate a little of my background and my beautiful friend @chefjenbaccam

I am Tai Dam. I used to always hate explaining my background because it’s not common as Chinese or Japanese to what Midwest Americans are familiar seeing when they see people similar to me.

To be honest I still have problems of who or what Tai Dam is because the only thing I have are what my parents and family are and we have heavily assimilated to this country. Growing up I hated who I was and all I wanted to be was normal and white. It truly matters to see and have that representation in this world because nothing is wrong with me. For everyone that hated to be “different” for who and what they are, nothing is wrong with you.

It’s hard to say as an adult how much I used to hate being Asian from getting picked on, kids slanting their eyes at me, from kids making a stank face at the food I eat.

Tai Dam is beautiful and so as my friend Jennifer here in her traditional Tai Dam dress.

Did a quick photoshoot at @updowndsm with @brandycamstagram using a @tiffencompany’s black pro mist filter. Love the effect it gave.
