POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We had an amazing visit today to the special collections at KB library @kbnationalebibliotheek with @olakorbanska to prepare for the workshop ‘What do you mean, a poetic revolutionary’ tomorrow and to continue our artistic research connecting Textile Initiative events to the national library collection.

We were particularly interested to see examples of speech scrolls, an illustrative device denoting speech which was particularly used in the 13th to 16th centuries by European painters and in manuscripts, and is an inspiration for Ola’s banner making practice. We also looked at examples of bookbindings using textile and embroidery and were blown away by the level of detail and craftsmanship that went into these historical pieces, as well as how the library takes care for and preserves them.

Thank you to collection specialists Ed van der Vlist and Erik Geleijns for selecting and showing us these pieces and sharing their knowledge! And thank you to KB curator @krispetrasova for inviting us and putting this all into motion! 📖📜🌀

A few weeks ago, something really special happened. ✨

Still finding myself coming back to these moments @limenlorf with a full heart. Working alongside so many incredibly talented artists, meeting curious minds and being surrounded by beautiful souls was inspiring in so many ways.

Feeling deeply grateful for everyone who was part of it, and for all the little moments that made it what it was.

Breng zeker een bezoek aan deze plek.

Join us for our first workshop of a series at @kbnationalebibliotheek in The Hague with @olakorbanska

What do you mean, a poetic revolutionary?
Collective feminist banner making workshop led by Ola Korbańska
Friday 23 October 1-6pm

How to formulate ideas in a poetic, clear or perhaps radical way? We welcome you to this workshop, during which we will explore the practice of textile banner making and create a collective artwork guided by artist Ola Korbańska. We will find pleasure in composing feminist slogans through writing exercises, dive into the subject of text in art and public space, and think of textiles as a soft medium for manifesting our objections and desires. “What do you mean, a poetic revolutionary?” asks Audre Lorde in her text “The Uses of the Erotic.” We will try to find out, but most of all, to become one.

We’re very happy to announce a new collaboration with @kbnationalebibliotheek in The Hague with workshops by @olakorbanska and @sana.lopez.abellan !

The KB, National Library of the Netherlands is an archive of words. But words do not only live on paper. They are also chanted, placed on banners, engraved in metal and wood, woven into fabric, whispered and passed on.

In this new programme series, developed in collaboration with KB National Library, we explore the library as a living place: a place where knowledge is not only preserved, but also created. Each programme brings together makers, participants and the KB collection.

💚Grazie Per tutti Terranuda for these days and for all the work and everything shared, as well as my co-residents @olakorbanska and @iwoborkowicz

Some photos from the exhibition, and of processes during my residency at @terranuda3000.
About what I was developing during my residency:
I took advantage of this time to begin a series of works that continue with the themes I have been researching.
I continue reformulating landscapes, their possibilities, building worlds.
What disappeared, what was forgotten, what I remember, what I was told and what builds a collective imaginary, what I miss.
What was transformed into something else. The desert. The layers of light and the layers of time. The visible, the almost imperceptible, the imagined.

💚Grazie Per tutti Terranuda for these days and for all the work and everything shared, as well as my co-residents @olakorbanska and @iwoborkowicz

A few more faces to add to our very special Limen Lorf mix ✨
Meet two more artists joining us this summer.

DM for RSVP 🏰

@michel_yanozoto
Moving through high-energy progressive, breakbeat, jungle, dubstep, and garage, Yanozoto’s sets explore the boundaries between soulful melodies and techy beats. Raised in a multicultural environment, his sound draws heavily from the rich facets of Latin music, alongside his work with turntable circuit bending and sound engineering.

@olakorbanska
Ola Korbańska is a visual artist based in Berlin working with text and textiles, creating large site-specific textile works in public spaces that center feminist and gender-oriented perspectives, alongside more intimate pieces exploring language and signs. She is the author of texts and short stories, published in numerous magazines and books.
