Weekend recap from Strawberry, AZ. Weather has cooled off, leaves are changing colors and the days are getting short. Fall is here.

Walked here to grab a pizza last night and was greeted with eye rolls and rude passive aggressive comments about how there is another location were I should go pick up a pizza huh???? Look here I am from out of town and am staying 10 steps away from this place and want a pizza to take back. I see boxes and I see pizza what is the problem? I told them if it’s a problem I will order and then as soon as it gets here ask for a box and the check ? Like get ur rude staff all the way together, oh and THE PIZZA WAS JUST MID !!!
But ur staff was rude and passive aggressive and because of that I won’t return #sorude #midpizza #badservice

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Danyelle & Collin who just tied the knot this past weekend at the most beautiful @cabinsonstrawberryhill!

Danyelle & Collin you are a stunning couple and we were so honored to be a part of the most special day!

Rain and all, we absolutely LOVED all of the desserts you chose, so beautiful and classy. Featured are a variety of mini pie bites, artisan cookies, brownies and a simply classic wedding centerpiece cake!

Amazing group of vendors last weekend, loved the mini charcuterie boards by @oliveyougrazingaz such an adorable touch! Thank you both for trusting us with your big day! We wish you both many happy years to come!

Strawberry, Arizona was exactly the reset we needed. We wandered a lavender farm and brought home the best soaps, ate pizza at The Old County Inn that lived up to all the buzz, hiked around Pine, and stayed in a cozy cottage at the Strawberry Inn. We even spotted a bear along the way.

The food was great, the town is lovely, and the pace is so much slower, which is why we went. It was a perfect break from the city.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly getaway, put Strawberry on your list.

🍴Old County Inn
📍Pine, AZ
🗓️12/31/2024 & 8/15/2026

💃Atmosphere: Relaxed, casual, homey, community friendly

☀️Fun Fact: This popular wood-fired pizza spot lives up to the hype! They also have a burger spot located in Pine, Arizona that makes really good smash burgers called Old County Burger.

🐽Food Ordered:
- Woodfired Wings
- Green Chile Beer Cheese
- Just Beat It Salad
-The Burrata (Pizza)
- East Coast Clam (Pizza)

💁🏽‍♀️Review: The wings are always a great starter to get for the table. These whole wings have a rich smoky flavor from the housemaid pancho sauce. The carrot and radish veggies bring a fresh and crunchy balance to the mix that can be dipped in a buttermilk herb dressing. Beets are a great summer veggie and they added a colorful texture to the just beet it salad. The salad included peppery arugula, a light lemon vinaigrette, goat cheese, and was topped with toasted pine nuts. Such a light and fresh salad! Now for the pizza, you can’t go wrong with any of their unique selections. I had to give the East Coast Clam a try and it did not disappoint. It was a white sauce based pizza with the perfect amount of small littleneck clams and house-made bacon that gave the pizza a good balance of salty and savory. The white sauce also included a bold cilantro serrano pesto sauce that really elevated the pizza. My favorite pizza has to be The Burrata. This pizza comes out beautifully presented with a red tomato based sauce, small pepperoni cups, hot honey, fresh basil, and cracked peppercorn topped with burrata. The creaminess of the burrata cheese, the depth of the tomato sauce and pepperoni, all combined with the sweetness of the hot honey sauce make this pizza a 10/10!

🌟 Highlight: The Burrata is a 10/10 pizza and must try for all the reasons listed above!

🫒Next time, I plan to try one of their house-made cocktails! The Pickle Tickle drink looks absolutely amazing and includes house spicy cucumber vodka, house pickle juice, olive and lime juice, and a blue cheese stuffed green love. I love how most items are house-made here!

One of my favorite things about living in Ahwatukee?

We can leave the desert after breakfast and be surrounded by pine trees by lunch.

A new little series begins Sunday: WORTH THE DRIVE. First stop Pine, Arizona, with wood-fired pizza waiting at the end. 🤎

Would you make the drive?
Full day-trip carousel coming Sunday. 🤎

Took the scenic route to get the kiddo up to college (!!!) last month and decided to spend a few days adventuring together in Strawberry and Pine!

Our home base for a few days was a cozy and super comfortable renovated Airstream at @thestrawberryinn. We saw a bunch of elk, ate delicious food (standouts were @piebaraz and @oldcountyinn), explored nature, and shared a lot of laughs.

More soon 😄
