Secret Passages is BACK 🚨

Inside the mutagen-powered fourth issue, you’ll find Warhammer 40,000’s first foray into live-action, the origin of SLA Industries, Dungeons & Dragons’ first campaign setting, Britain’s 1980s paperback RPG boom, a long-overdue reappraisal of Gorkamorka, and so much more.

We’re also paying tribute to the late, great John Blanche with a standalone zine packed with new articles, artwork, and essays covering his contributions to the worlds of Fighting Fantasy, Games Workshop, and heavy metal, and featuring a foreword from the incomparable Ian Miller.

Finished artwork of Khârn the Betrayer (SWIPE TO SEE THE FULL IMAGE)

I’ve titled it ‘KHÂRNS ASCENSION’ or maybe descent?

Originally started as an entry to @olden_demon competition. Sadly I couldn’t finish it in time and entered a version without the background and still got a Honourable mention!

Hope you enjoy now a fully fleshed put idea and let me know how many legions and marks of armour you can identify.

Acrylic painting on paper, approx. 40x55cm

Getting ready to put the pit fiend on his base!
The idea is that he's been digging up a grave. I was going for mud, and the corner of a coffin being unearthed. How did I do?

The Olden Demon 2026 level was absolutely insane! 🤯🏆

Even though I didn’t have time to participate this year, I spent hours jaw-dropped looking at the entries. The talent across all three categories (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Freestyle) has been exceptional.

Here are my personal TOP 10 favorites from this edition:

Nice weekend surprise!! Thank you so much to @olden_demon for this amazing competition and congratulations to all participants for their awesome pieces. I think that the main goals of this mini are definition and saturation. Those are concepts that I’m learning from @alfonso_giraldes_banshee (@miniatureart_academy) since I joined the academy one year ago so part of the credit for this award belongs to them. Next year I’ll come back with some old stuff!! #oldendemon #orks #freebooters #greenskin #miniatureart

I was so surprised and overjoyed yesterday to see my Isabella Von Carstein took bronze in this years Olden Demon competition in the Classic Fantasy category!

Olden Demon is such a fun competition and I really recommend that people give painting an older mini a chance!

Congratulations to all other winners! Your pieces are all beautiful!

Thank you to @olden_demon for holding this comp each year!!

My entry for the @olden_demon 2026 painting competition in the Classic - Freestyle category ⚔️

This Witch Hunter was originally painted around 10 years ago and has now been revisited with some upgrades and refinements.

Featuring white hair and carrying the severed head of what is probably a witch, the model was heavily inspired by the dark atmosphere of The Witcher. I placed him on a gloomy rocky base to reinforce the grimdark feel I wanted to achieve.

It was great to revisit an old miniature and give it a new life while keeping its original feel.

Good luck to all participants, and thanks for checking it out!
