This piece was recently on view at @oldfriendsgallery in Chicago. It is part of my ongoing series of wall panels.

Loosely based off of a weaving pattern, it references the idea of labor that is incomplete. How many times in a day is my effort to complete a simple task sidelined by something trivial. A phone call, a red light, a missing piece of paper. This piece, Toil, is meant to recognize those moments of time.

Moving into 2D work has been an exciting venture. This piece is part of a series of works that started as a visual meditation, a way to remind us of the ways in which life exists beyond ourself. This piece is very loosely based on Medieval Books of Hours. “Grotto” is meant to be a collection of my thoughts and personal history within religious spaces. Sometimes those spaces feel so beautiful and holy, while other times they are just a mash of babble.

This piece is currently on view at Old Friends Gallery on Chicago.

Come and hear @kennyschachter and I speak on September 17th at 6pm at @oldfriendsgallery and join us for a reception just after. Lord knows neither of us runs our mouths enough as it is.

Chicken Stingel: The Sequel remains on view through September 21st. Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday, 12pm-6pm, or feel free and reach out to me directly to set up a private appointment.

Audio is from the last talk we did in Chicago, during the tenth edition of Expo. I promise I’ll come up with new, equally hard questions this time.
