11 years ago, our crew stumbled upon the ultimate Brooklyn dive bar by chance. Classic films, horror flicks, and historical epics play non-stop, backed by killer Rock and Metal tunes. The staff and regulars? Even better. This hidden gem quickly became our go-to HQ in Park Slope/Kiwanis. Still loving that sticker in the men's room one of our crew placed there all those years ago. #lucky13saloon #Brooklyn #movies #setlife #FOB

Before I go fabric shopping, measure a few people, and view even more original uniforms, I HAD to make a stop at @uniondrummerboy first to see what goodies were waiting to be explored.
This CS Captain's coat is absolutely beautiful. With areas eaten away or falling apart, I was able to take a nice look into the details within the coat, seeing how trim is sewn into place, the buckram, the stuffing used in the quilting, all topped off with several neat techniques used in it's production.
Each garment that I viewed shows variances in construction. Two Artillery MSJs were vastly different, one showing no rear pillows, heights of collars, wavy stitching vs. careful stitching, lining cloth, and the quality of the kerseys used to make both.
The Federal Officer coats used a few varying cloths, as well. The one broadcloth is so thin, being densely weaved with what feels like silk.
I've been working 18-hour days for the last 5 months and I have been pining to come down here since November. It seems like a break, but it's not. I'm still sewing while I'm here. 😅

This past weekend, @oldtimeycasting was able to host a living history program at Genesee Country Village & Museum, in Mumford, NY.
Last year, we didn't get a chance to get a photo of all of us in one spot, so this year, I envisioned a plate in front of the Thompson Tavern. We staged the front yard with items in the tavern while I placed everyone in a spot with an activity and had Tin Prince Photography shoot the plate. The color photos were taken by our new friend, Dan Groth.
Despite the patches of rain and 49° temps on Friday & Saturday, Sunday's 55° (mostly) sunny weather was very welcomed.
We were able to squeeze in a short film, "Another Patrol."
I'm happy I got to share this experience with everyone in the photos. They were, and are all fantastic.
Come join us next year! Oldtimeycasting.com/Mumford
