CREATE Foundation and @cdfms were proud to host with presenting sponsor Kinder Morgan the National Civics Bee Mississippi State Finals at @olemisstupelo 👏🐝🇺🇸

Students across the state submitted essays in issues in their communities, which were reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges. Top students were selected to complete in Mississippi’s statewide competition: an in-person, live event featuring two rounds of civics quiz questions followed by a Q&A in which students discussed their proposals for improving their communities.

Congratulations to Skylar Wilson from Ingomar Attendance Center who took first place, followed by Elias Miguel Jimenez from Corinth Middle School who took second place, and Elizabeth Hall from Ingomar Attendance Center who took third place!

“All of the participants exemplify our nation’s founding principles and civic virtues. This is a meaningful event that will guide the participants to be strong leaders in their community for years to come,” said Dylan Arnette, Public Affairs Specialist with Kinder Morgan and a judge at this year’s Bee.

Thank you to Kinder Morgan for sponsoring Mississippi’s Civics Bee and Representative Trent Kelly for being our featured speaker and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders! 🤍🇺🇸

So honored to be recognized as a Taylor Medalist by @olemisstupelo ! Tupelo is my hometown—the city that made me. I want to congratulate my fellow Tupelo Campus Taylor Medalists @jonathankodyschrock and Caroline Gardner! Congratulations as well to the other students who received awards at the graduation dinner the other night. Lastly, congratulations to the graduating class of 2025, including Saltillo's own @mayorcopeygrantham ! When I asked to get a picture with him, he said, “I want to get a picture with YOU!” Wow, God gets all the glory 🙏🏿💯✝️ I am so grateful to Him and to the people He placed in my life who support me through it all!

The Taylor Medal is the highest academic honor a student from the University of Mississippi can receive. No more than 1% of the student body is given this award each year. What. An. Accomplishment. Last night, I was one of the recipients of this prestigious award, and I just want to thank Jesus Christ for guiding my steps thus far. I'm grateful for those who have supported me in my journey. Thank you for believing in me. I hope you will continue to do so as I take my next step in life, which will be to pursue a law degree! I will be taking the LSAT in June, so keep me in your prayers. Lastly, I want to congratulate my peers who also worked hard for this moment!
