I’ve never shared how I finish my quilts, so I thought it’s about time I do!

I have a lot of down time ahead of me for the next couple of weeks, so now is the perfect time to finish this BEAUTIFUL quilt that I am completely obsessed with! I made it at the beginning of the summer, and have been saving it for this time to work on the binding haha.

In the beginning of my sewing/quilting journey (before I knew what I was doing) I’d trim with scissors and nothing to make sure I was cutting straight … we all start somewhere I guess! 🤣🤣

Next I’ll show you how I make my binding! Follow along so you don’t miss it! 👀

I’ve soo got my groove back!! I’ve been in a creative slump for the past 2 months and it’s been rough not creating. I guess I’ve been technically creating a baby lol!
This quilt top was completed right after this picture! Can’t wait to start get to hand quilting on it as the weather cools here in the Bay Area! Thee perfect fall project!! #olfasamplerquilt

This is the second time I’ve taken the time to pattern match the backing fabric — I don’t think I can go back!

Piecing the backing has always been that rate limiting step that feels like a chore. Apparently my brain loves the satisfaction of aligning the pattern, and while it’s actually more work, it takes the monotony out of sewing one long seam.

I made a raccoon themed leather artist journal filled with Stonehenge Art Paper! I caught as much of the process as I could for you! You can make a book, too!

Some close ups of this glamour girl 🖤🌈. Rainbow quilting in all its glory!

I really think I need to make another one of these Spellbound EPP quilts in @tulapink Graywork (especially while I still have it in stock). These are some of my favorite fussy cuts that just made this quilt such a stunner 🤩.

And as much as I like pink and purple, I will never love them as much as the blue/aqua color family.

I used my @olfa_craft rotary cutter to trim up this project created with @shannonfabrics Cuddle fabric.

I didn’t use batting in this project but, if I had, I would have trimmed the batting to the halfway point as well.

For my details, visit The ‘Did You Know?’ Quilting Show on YouTube. I did a video on June 30, 2026 called, Creating a Self Binding.

Okay, but can we talk about how good these scrappy-ish blocks look together?

A little behind the scenes of this Star Lake Quilt coming together. Fabric, trimming, lots of piecing, finally seeing the quilt top come together, and of course, a brief appearance from my studio assistant.

I’m pretty obsessed with how this one came together.
